DANNY RAY McKINNEY


Danny Ray McKinney, 55, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, September 22, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on July 28, 1962 to the late R.D. and Barbara Jones McKinney.  He worked at the State Highway Department for many years, was a member of the Reedyville Masonic Lodge and the Butler County Antique Tractor and Engine Club.  Danny enjoyed collecting and driving tractors as well as fishing and boating.    He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Henry and Josie McKinney and Stanley and Vida Jones; mother in law Judy Burden; two aunts and one uncle. 

 

Mr. McKinney is survived by his wife of 25 years Amy McKinney; son D.J. McKinney and wife Toni; daughter Gloria McKinney all of Morgantown; aunt Elizabeth Lee and husband David of Louisville; father in law Joe Burden and partner Sue Iler of Morgantown; brother in law Frankie Burden and wife Cindy of Franklin; special cousin Judy Ward Johnson of Bowling Green; niece Kaley Burden and nephew Gage Burden both of Franklin; several cousins.

 

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 2 pm with Bro. David Youngblood officiating.  Burial will follow at Cook Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Monday, Sept. 25 from 4-8 pm and Tuesday from 8 am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.

 

MARY HAZEL McKINNEY

 

Mary Hazel McKinney, 88, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown, Ky.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Sept. 14, 1929 to the late Harvey and Mary Kate Pendley Lee .  She retired from Kellwood  and was a member of  Caney Fork Presbyterian Church. Ms. McKinney enjoyed cooking for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Junior McKinney; son Joel McKinney; three brothers and two sisters.

 

Ms. McKinney is survived by her grandsons John David McKinney (Michele) of Bowling Green and Ronald Keith McKinney of Elizabethtown; three great grandchildren Drake and Drew McKinney of Bowling Green and Amber McKinney of Elizabethtown; one great great grandson Mark McKinney of Bowling Green; several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

 

Funeral Service will be held at Caney Fork Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Sept.24, 2017 at 

2 pm with Rev. Brian Carson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Sept.23, 2017 from 5-8pm at Smith Funeral Home and Sunday from 12 pm until time of service at Caney Fork Presbyterian Church, Morgantown, Ky. 

 

 

 

 

FREEMAN WARD ANDERSON

 

Freeman Ward Anderson, 78, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on December 1, 1938 to the late Robert Samuel and Verdie Elizabeth Brown Anderson.  He was a graduate of Butler County High School, member of  Union Missionary Baptist Church, Cassia Masonic Lodge # 272 F&AM. He was an Army Veteran and served during the Berlin Crisis, Quality control foreman at Holley Carburetor for 31 years also worked as a labor foreman at TVA.    He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Nada Ross, Ada McCoy, and Pauline Belcher;  one brother Nevel Anderson. 

 

Mr. Anderson is survived by his three brothers Marshall Anderson of Morgantown, Rex Anderson of Louisville, Ky., Ray Anderson of Charlestown, In.; several nieces and nephews; special friend Marcia Luttrell.  

 

 

Funeral Service will be held at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Morgantown, Ky on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017 at 11 am with Bro. Gary Oberhausen and Bro. Don Rogers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery with Military honors by Am Vets Post #117. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 from 2-8pm at Smith Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 am until time of service at Union Missionary Baptist Church , Morgantown, Ky. 

 

CLEMMIE BRYANT PHELPS 

 

Clemmie Bryant Phelps, 93, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown, Ky.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on June 25, 1924 to the late Chester and Rosa Bell Embry Bryant .  She was a member of  Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Ms. Phelps sold Avon for 25years and loved to collect Barbie dolls . She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred Ray Phelps; grandson Jamie Embry and one step-great granddaughter Regan Meredith.

 

Ms. Phelps  is survived by her three sons Chester Ray Phelps, Bobby Joe Phelps (Alice), William Alfred Phelps (Brenda) all of Morgantown,  one daughter Loretta Mae Johnson (Glendel) of Morgantown; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild on the way; 1 step-granddaughter;  2 step- great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

 

Funeral Service will be held at Chapel Union Missionary Baptist on Friday, Sept.22, 2017 at 1 pm with Bro. Greg Fields officiating.  Burial will follow in the Chapel Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept.21, 2017 from 4-8pm at Smith Funeral Home and Friday from 10 am until time of service at Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church, Morgantown, Ky. 

 

NORMA "DOTTIE" YOUNG

 

Norma "Dottie"  Young, 91, passed away Sunday, September 3rd at the Morgantown Care and Rehab.  She was born on Aug. 7, 1926 in Butler County to the late Isom Henderson and Corda Ann Phelps Henderson.  Norma worked as a clerk in the Thompson Grocery and the Ed Smith store.  She was a member of the Cool Springs General Baptist for 70 plus years.  She was and avid quilter and loved to study genealogy.  Norma was preceded in death by husband H.T. Young, 3 brothers; Orville, Justus & George Henderson.  1 sister; Goren Phelps.

 

Norma is survived by 1 sister; Wavie Fishburn of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11am.  Burial will follow in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4 until 8pm and on Wednesday from 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown Ky.

 

 

 

ANNA MAE HATCHER LEE MARTIN

 

Anna Mae Hatcher Lee Martin, 72, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on June 17, 1945 to the late Ernest and Mary Madgline Johnson Hatcher.  She was a member of the Morgantown Community Church,  retired from Kellwood Manufacturing after 30 plus years.   Anna loved to quilt, travel, flowers and most of all spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Shelby Lee Jr. and one niece Melissa Parks.

 

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband Paul Marlin Martin; son Jeff Lee (Lisa); daughter Cecilia Kirby (Neal) all of Morgantown; grandchildren Jennifer McLean, Katie Wilson (Jordan), Ernest Lee all of Morgantown; great-grandchildren Sadie McCall of Bowling Green, Madison McCall of Auburn,  J. Arys Honshell and Allie Honshell both of Bowling Green, Ava Wilson and Owen Wilson both of Morgantown; stepchildren Angela McKinney (Joddie), Sonia Smith (Johnny), Tina Porter (Scott) all of Morgantown.; step-grandchildren Rebecca Raymer (Jeff), Elizabeth Porter (Joshua), Adam Smith (Melissa), Audrey Pendley (Collin) , Andrew Porter all of Morgantown.; step-great-grandchildren Chandler Tinsley, Evelyn Porter and Delilah Smith all of Morgantown; sisters Daisy Parks of Memphis, Tn., Ivy Goodall of Morgantown; brothers Clay Hatcher (Hattie), Troy Hatcher, Tommy Hatcher (Susan), Mike Hatcher all of Morgantown;  Bobby Hatcher (Frankie) of Hadley, Ernie Hatcher (Sandy) of North Carolina; many nieces and nephews.

WANDA MAE GUFFY

 

Wanda Mae Guffy died at 90 years of age on August 30th, 2017 at The Episcopal Church Home in Louisville, Kentucky. She was born February 15, 1927 to Mae and Aubrey Phelps of Eden, Kentucky in Butler County.

Wanda personified the grit, wit, and soulfulness that only a southern country girl can. Her younger years were spent working the land on her family’s farm in Butler County and learning to command the kitchen with grace. 

In her adult life, she developed an impeccable style and managed the women’s clothing department of several department stores in Louisville, Kentucky and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, while also sharing many hobbies, including crafts, baking, sewing, and gardening with family and friends.  Over the years, her love of adventure took her overseas to Russia, Japan, the Arctic Circle, and beyond with her younger sister, Ruth. 

No matter her circumstances, Wanda’s sense of humor, fierce independence, and unapologetic honesty fueled her perseverance and kept all who knew her on their toes. 

She was a long-time member of Christ Community Church, formerly Clifton Heights Baptist Church, and she continued attending worship services at The Friendship House and The Episcopal Church Home.

She is survived by her two sons, Anthony (Jeannie) Guffy and Darrel (Karyl Johnson) Guffy; her grandchildren, Cheryl Cubbage, Gannon (Nathan) Weaver, Willow and Brandi Guffy, and Kris Johnson; and her great-grandchild, Brendan Cubbage; her sisters, Ruth Scott of  Morgantown, Kentucky, Betty Essex of Ocala, Florida, Dewey Phelps of Stanton, Kentucky, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Mae and Aubrey Phelps, her sisters Bertha Phelps, Helen Howard, Lucille Flener, and her brother Jullian Clellan Phelps. 

A special thanks is extended to Dr. Jane Cornett, the caregivers at The Episcopal Church Home, and her dear friend Penny Brill of First Christian Church of Louisville for supporting and caring for her in the final stages of her life.  

 

Visitation with the family will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 403 N. Main Street, Morgantown, KY on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. CT until time of service at 1:00 p.m. CT.  

 

 JAMES CHRISTOPHER HOLMAN "CHRIS"

 

James Christopher Holman "Chris", 44, of  Provo, Ky., passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Bowling Green, Ky. on Jan. 6, 1973.  He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church and attended Southeast Christian Church in Louisville.  Chris was a Butler Co. High School graduate and went on to further his education at the University of Kentucky where he earned a degree in economics and was a member of the AGR Fraternity, he also received a MBA from Western Kentucky University.  He attended specialized Ag Lending Schools at Clemson University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.  He was an Agricultural Lending Officer with Morgantown Bank and Trust.  He loved his family, farming, taking care of his cattle and UK basketball.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Bernice Holman, Cecil and Ruby Wilson; uncles Gordon Holman, Darrell Wilson and David Wilson;  aunt Deloris Wilson. 

 

Chris is survived by his wife Julia Ranee Holman of Bowling Green; son Jackson Christopher Holman of Bowling Green; daughter Jessilyn Laitney Huguenot of Bowling Green; parents Jim and Melba Holman of Provo; sisters Connie Greathouse (Ricky) of Provo and Tracy Morrison (Dave) of Bowling Green; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service will be held at Monticello Baptist Church on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 

11:00 am with Bro. Randy Burns officiating.  Burial will follow in the Doolin Rone Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 3-8pm and Friday 8-10am at Smith Funeral Home.  

 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Doolin Rone Cemetery. 

 

 

 

 

WENDELL RICHARD CHRISTOPHER FLENER "CHRIS"

 

Wendell Richard Christopher Flener "Chris", 31, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on Oct. 21, 1985.  Chris was a member of White Ridge Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his father, Ricky Flener; brother Nathan Flener; grandparents Wendell and Mae Lou Flener and Earl S. Combs.

 

Survivors include his mother Deborah Combs of Nashville; sister Denise Flener of Morgantown; brother Jareth Burchett of Morgantown; grandmother Janice Combs "Mammy" of Morgantown; fiance' Gabreia McDaniel of Morgantown; step son Trevor McDaniel of Morgantown; longtime friend David Tuck of Morgantown; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

 

All services are private and are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

JAMES MARION BIERLY

 

James Marion Bierly, 87, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Hospice House of Southern Ky., Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Borden, In. on March 4, 1930 to the late Charles Otis and Ella Thomas Bierly.  He was a Korean War Army Veteran, member of Roundhill Church of Christ and retired from the Pepsi Cola Company. He enjoyed hunting, farming, trading guns and hanging out at Lindsey's grocery with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Naomi Bierly & Diana Bierly; daughter Dianne Ervin; brothers Leo Hurst and Otis Bierly. 

 

Mr. Bierly is survived by children James Allen Bierly of Morgantown, Fran Munk and Dexter Wilson both of Southern, In.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter; two brothers Theodore and John Bierly both of Indiana and one sister Jeannie of Florida; several nieces and nephews.

RONNIE JOE MURRELL III

 

Ronnie Joe Murrell III, 12, of  Roundhill, Ky., passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Roundhill, Ky.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on May 6, 2005. He attended Dishman McGinnis Elementary School and Cool Springs Baptist Church.  He loved to play video games with his dad and listening to music, was a UK Wildcat fan, loved spending time with his step dad John Haynes, playing with his best friend Jayden and little sister Serenity.  Ronnie was a country boy at heart.   He was preceded in death by step father John Haynes; grandparents Ronnie Joe Murrell, Sr., Daisy Mae Murrell and Carolyn Johnson.

CULA MAE BLUNK

 

Smith Funeral Home is serving the family of Cula Mae Blunk, age 70 of Bowling Green, Ky. Cula passed away at the Signature Health Care in Bowling Green on Wednesday, July 26th. She was born on October 2, 1946 to the late Charlie Blunk and Natie Durbin Blunk. Services will be held Monday at Smith Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral. Burial will follow in the Threlkel cemetery.

 

 

 

TERRY BRAD SHAW 

 

Terry Brad Shaw, 19, of  Roundhill, Ky., passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at the TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.  He was born in Franklin, In. on June 15, 1998.  He was a drywall finisher, graduated from Butler Co. High School where he was a member of the JROTC and earned several certificates from the Butler Co. Area Technology Center.  Terry loved music, fishing and being with his friends and family.  He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather Ricky Hudnall; great grandparents Dorothy Shaw, James Harry Hudnall, Roy Webster and Edward Shaw.

NOLA BISHOP STEWART         

 

                   

Nola Bishop Stewart, 84, of Morgantown, Ky., passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center, Morgantown, Ky.  She was born in Butler County, Ky. on April 3, 1933 to the late Noah Delmer and Ardie Lacefield Willoughby.  She was a charter member of the Beaver Dam Bible Baptist Church.  Nola retired from Morgantown Bank & Trust after 29 years.  She loved reading and crocheting.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  first husband James Bishop; stepsons Jeremiah Stewart & Larry Stewart, Jr.; brother ND Willoughby; half brothers Arlos and Prather Willoughby; sister Cordie Mae Willoughby and half sister Ortense Hunt.

 

Nola is survived by her husband Larry Stewart of Morgantown; Four step children Tonya Everett (William) of Russellville, David Dewayne Stewart of Beaver Dam, Rodney Stewart of Owensboro, Johnnie Stewart (Laura) of Fordsville;  11 Step grandchildren and Six step great grandchildren;  Two brothers; Charles Willoughby (Linda) of Louisville. Mack Willoughby (Louise) of Elizabethtown;  One sister Ruby Jewell Embry of Owensboro;  many nieces and nephews.

JOHN MICHAEL HAYNES



 John Michael Haynes, 27, of  Roundhill, Ky., passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at  Saints Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville, Ky.  He was born in Warren County, Ky. on February 1, 1990.   He was a member of the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. John loved spending time with his family, fishing, the outdoors and was a UK fan.   He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Geraldine Shockley and Patricia and John Haynes; brother James Roarx, sister Brittany Mahaney and brother-in-law Ryan Porter.

ANNIE MAE EMBRY

 

Annie Mae Embry, 91, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at her residence in Morgantown.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on January 22, 1926 to the late Claude Embry & Lizzie Baize Embry.  Miss Embry attended the First Apostolic Church.  She loved to color and spend time with her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harold Embry;  one sister, Margaret Bishop; one brother- in- law, Earl Bishop Sr.; one niece Linda Nash; great nephew, Brian Fleming; great niece, Stacey Martin.  


Miss Embry is survived by Five nieces; Doris Martin (Kenneth), Peggy, Joyce & Lisa Embry all of Morgantown,  Barbara Bishop of Bowling Green.  Three Nephews; Larry Embry (Connie) of Morgantown, David Embry (Debbie) of Morgantown,  Earl Bishop, Jr. of Bowling Green. Many great & great great nieces and nephews; one sister -in -law, Callie Christine Embry.

James Floyd Johnson, 76, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Provo, Ky.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on January 13, 1941 to the late James and Zona Kessinger Johnson.  Mr. Johnson was a member of the Flatwood Church of Christ.  He was a farmer and enjoyed watching T.V.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Waitress Embry, Cletus , Recil and Esley Johnson and sister Ethelene (Johnson) Cardwell.  

  

Mr. Johnson is survived one brother Obra Johnson of Morgantown; two sisters Lottie Johnson of Morgantown; Magdalene Johnson Bell of Collonsville, Al., Many nieces and nephews

 

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at

 THELDRED "DALE" WHITE

 

Theldred "Dale" White, 67, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Gilstrap, Ky. on August 22, 1949 to the late Leamon and Alline Baize White.  He was a member of New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, was a retired counselor at the Green River Boys Camp, a preacher and a barber.  Dale enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, watching basketball and NASCAR.  He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Cody Smith; siblings Eudena Cook, Gwydline Hoover, Clifford White, James White and Kenneth Parks.

 

Mr. White is survived by his wife of 50 years Mary White of Morgantown; children Michael Dale White and wife Kimberly, Melissia Baxter all of Henderson and Melinda (Wendy) Smith-Whitmer and husband Jonathan of Morgantown; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers Huey and Robert White; sisters Anita Miller, Freda Snodgrass and Ruth Barbee; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service will be held at New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 20 at 2 pm with Bro. Gene Garner officiating.  Burial will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, June 19 from 2-9 pm and Tuesday at New Liberty Missionary Baptist Church from 9 am until time of service. 

 

 

 

 

BERTHLENE LINDSEY FLENER

 

Berthlene Lindsey Flener, 85, of Morgantown,  Ky., passed away Tuesday, June 6 , 2017 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on  Dec. 1, 1931 to the late Leburn and Nola Lindsey.  She was a member of Sugar Grove Methodist Church, volunteered at the Morgantown Mission, loved flowers and working in her garden.    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Byron Flener, siblings Joyce Sue Phelps, Charles B. Lindsey and Mae Lou Flener.  

 

Ms. Flener is survived by daughter Donna Gayle Flener of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Joshua Porter and Elizabeth of Morgantown, Lindsey Young and Chad of Bowling Green, Casey Byrd and Jason of Morgantown and Dalton Burden of Morgantown; one great-grandchild Evelyn Porter of Morgantown; three sisters Kathlene Childress of Louisville, Ky., Maxine West of Shepherdsville, Ky., Judy Clark of Bowling Green; one brother Carlton Lindsey of Illinois; special companion of over 10 years, Jut Jenkins of Morgantown.  

 

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 2 pm with Bro. Josh Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in the Morgan- Smith Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 from 11-8 pm and Friday from 8 am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky.

Elizabeth A. "Bettye" Simpson Brown, 85, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Magnolia Village in Bowling Green.  She was born in Evansville, In. on Aug. 6, 1931 to the late Archie Simpson and Blanche Heichelbeck Simpson.  She was a wife and mother. Was of the Methodist faith and loved to play word circle.  She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother; Bernard Simpson. 

 

Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 64 years Glen Brown of Bowling Green.  2 sons; David Brown (Mary Beth) of Huntsville Al. Michall G. Brown of Bowling Green. 1 grandchild; Ben Brown of Tuscaloosa, Al. 1 niece; Beverly Simpson of Evansville, In.  2 nephews; Gary Simpson of Evansville, In. and Steve Simpson of  Cantonment, Fl.

Warren Jackson Blaine, 81, of  Dunmor, Ky., passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on September 4, 1935 to the late Victor and Alma Staples Blaine.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, construction worker and a member of St. Moriah Church of Christ.   He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Kenneth Blaine and one sister Augusta Carilse.

 

Mr. Blaine is survived by one daughter Rhonda King and husband Ray of Dunmor, Ky.; two sons Jeffrey Blaine of Bowling Green, Ky, Bryan Blaine and wife Tia of Dunmor, Ky.; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers Billy Darrell Blaine of Owensboro, Ky., Victor Blaine Jr. of Clarksville, Virginia.

RUBY W. JOHNSON

 

Ruby W. Johnson, 87, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Hospice House of Southern Ky. in Bowling Green.  She was born in Butler Co. on June 4, 1929 to the late Ercel Warren and Eva Miller Warren.  She was a homemaker, member of the Church of Christ for more than 80 years.  Ruby loved to quilt and make crafts.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willis Clay Johnson, 2 brothers; Hayward & Glendon Warren, 2 sisters; Ruth and Reva Warren. 

 

Mrs. Johnson is survived by 3 children; Phyllis Childress of Bowling Green, Paula Trabue & David of Morgantown & Tony Johnson & Becky of Bowling Green. 7 grandchildren. Leigh Childress of Jeffersonville, In., Amanda Childress of Bowling Green, Nick Trabue & Alex of Bowling Green, Meredith Stokes & Jon of Bowling Green, Garrett Trabue of Bowling Green, Caleb Johnson & Jessica of Morgantown, Matthew Jordan and Amy of Hendersonville, Tn.  6 great grandchildren; Drew Stokes, Ela Kate Johnson, Merritt Trabue, Joshua, Cooper & Riley Jordan.

LONA LINDSEY MARTIN


Lona Lindsey Martin, 98, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Butler Co. on Sept. 21, 1918 to the late Cader and Della Colburn Lindsey.  She was a homemaker, member of Leonard Oak Baptist Church, loved quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Rebus Martin and many brothers and sisters. 

 

Mrs. Martin is survived by daughter Beverly Flener of Morgantown; sons Jr. Martin (Esther) and Larry Martin (Mickey) both of Morgantown; 7 grandchildren Lisa Morris (Steve) of Bowling Green, Tiffany Flener, Babe Martin (Becky), Brittiany Hudson (Dewayne), Chris Martin and Shasta Martin all of Morgantown; Cameron Martin (Kara) of Sioux Falls, SD; 11 great grandchildren and honorary grandchild Jordan West.

RONNIE RUFUS NEACE


Ronnie Rufus Neace, 37, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, April 24, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Perry, Co. Ky. on March 11, 1980.  He was a Construction worker and a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Ohio Co.  Ronnie loved fishing and gardening.  He was preceded in death by his mother Jewell Neace and sister Renee Neace. 

 

Mr. Neace is survived by his wife Bobbi Jo Neace of Beaver Dam, Ky.; 

four children Myles, Madysen, James & Broghan all of Beaver Dam, Ky.; father Paul Abbott of Beaver Dam, Ky.; brother Bryn Turner and wife Amber of Calhoun, Ky.; sister Dorothy Howard and husband Clinton of Beaver Dam, Ky.; several nephews and one niece.

James Loyd Nole, 71, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on September 4, 1945 to the late Karl and Naomi Borah Nole.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Boyd Nole. 

 

Mr. Nole is survived by his sister Karlene Akin of Morgantown; nephew Jerry Akin of Sarasota, Fl.; three nieces Gaye Akin of Morgantown, Karen Nelson and Cherie Cox both of Jacksonville, Fl.

CORY O'NEIL CARDWELL 


Cory O'Neil Cardwell, 29, of  Franklin, Ky., passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the UK Chandler Medical Center, Lexington, Ky.  He was born in Warren Co, Ky. on November  24, 1987 to Tony O'Neil and Bonnie "Jackie" Cardwell.  He worked at Standafer and Sons Co., loved playing disc golf ,basketball and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics.  He was preceded in death by his brother Steven Cardwell, grandparents James and Louise LeGrand, Otis Jr. and Virginia Cardwell. 

 

Cory is survived by his wife Brittany Cardwell of Franklin, Ky.; son Jackson O'Neil Cardwell of Franklin, Ky., step-son Kaleb Riddle of Franklin, Ky.;  parents Bonnie "Jackie" and Tony O'Neil Cardwell both of Morgantown; girlfriend Silvia Faulkner of Franklin, Ky.; two brothers James Cardwell and wife Jennifer of Morgantown, Louis Cardwell of Morgantown; one sister Tiffany McCoy of Bowling Green; step- grandmother Kathy Cardwell of Bowling Green; many nieces and nephews.

Sue Embry Hall, 78, of  Yuma, Az., formerly of Morgantown, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, AZ.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on June 6, 1938 to the late Newt and Ethel Embry.  She was a member of Peace Chapel Church and was a  Cafeteria worker for the Louisville Kentucky Board of Education.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom Hall; daughter Charlotte Hall; sister Drusilla Woosley; brothers Duvall and Buren Embry. 

 

Ms. Embry is survived by her son Tom Hall, Jr. and wife Diann of Yuma, AZ.; daughters Elizabeth Extejt of Yuma, AZ, Kara Agnew of Fayetteville, NC., Chelsea Leverich of Millington, Tn. Savannah Hall of Yuma, AZ.; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Tony Embry of Boston, Ky.

WALLACE "RED" McCOY


Wallace "Red" McCoy, 81, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on August 23, 1935 to the late Willard B. and Pearl Mason McCoy.  He was a supervisor at LF Strassheim for several years, member of Union Missionary Baptist Church,  enjoyed yard selling, collecting Chevy S-10 trucks and going to Hardee's in the mornings.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elwanda McCoy; brother Mayburn McCoy; sisters Anna Ruth Hall and Esma Henderson.

 

Mr. McCoy is survived by nephews:  Eddie McCoy (Gaye) of Bowling Green, Wade McCoy of Louisville, Norman Henderson (Sharon), Troy Henderson (Della), Reggie Vaught, Terry Mayhugh (Shelia) and Steve Mayhugh (Penny) all of Morgantown; nieces:  Sandy Embry (Terry) of Morgantown, Jerry White (JC) of Elizabethtown,  Syble Leach (Howard) of Hendersonville, Tn., Karen Smith (Darrell) of Carlton, Ga. and Debbie Mingus (Ed) of Bowling Green;  sister in law Elvera McCoy of Louisville; several great nieces and nephews; devoted friend Larry Thomas.

JANIS PENDLEY STUART

 

 

Janis Pendley Stuart, 80, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at her residence.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Nov. 30, 1936 to the late Dotson and Mary Lee Pendley.  Janis was a member of Morgantown First Baptist Church, served as Deputy Court Clerk for Short White, worked at Morgantown Deposit Bank, Morgantown Elementary, Kellwood and sang and played piano on the radio.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Royce Pendley and great granddaughter Regan Lee Meredith. 

 

Mrs. Stuart is survived by her husband of 60 years George Stuart of Morgantown; daughter Kelly Stuart of Morgantown; grandson Stuart Meredith (Alicia) of Morgantown; great grandchildren Matthew and Kellon, step grandchildren Natalie, Brianna and Lacey; several nieces and nephews.

ROBERT F. LEE

 

Robert F. Lee, 67, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky on August 5, 1949 to the late Louis W. Lee and Topsy Holman Lee Tuck.  He graduated from Butler County High School in 1967, was a US Army Veteran and a retired Coal Miner. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Provo Fish Club.  He loved UK basketball, his beagles and beekeeping. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Roddy Lee and twin brother Jimmy Lee

 

Mr. Lee is survived by his  wife of 39 years Sandy Lee of Morgantown; one son James Lee of South Carolina; one daughter Jonna Neyenhaus (Robert) of Bowling Green; grandchildren Zander, Kalix, Zinlee Neyenhaus and Vivian Lee; one brother Randy Lee (Sandra) of Florida

several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Clora Mae Cannon, 92, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at  Morgantown Care and Rehab Center, Morgantown, Ky. She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on June 24, 1924 to the late Pal and Serennia Elms Shepherd.  Clora was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker. She loved dogs, cats and gardening.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Oval House and George Cannon, son Larry House, three sisters and one brother. 

 

Ms. Cannon is survived by daughters Colean Woodcock (Charles) of Morgantown, Carolyn Wilson (Onard) of Morgantown;  many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; daughter- in-law Diane House of New Albany, In.

Kenneth Ray McKinney, 67, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on March 3, 1950 to the late Reggie and Dorothy Evans McKinney.  Kenneth enjoyed watching westerns and cartoons.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ella Evalee Mefford Askew, 90, of  Nashville, Tn., formerly of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at  Woodcrest at the Blakeford, Nashville, Tn.  She was born in Huntsville, Ky. on March 29, 1926 to the late Buley and Ella Wood Mefford.  She worked at Kanes Manufacturing in Morgantown, taught school at Huntsville, babysat and was a homemaker.  Evalee was a member of the Morgantown Church of Christ, enjoyed sewing, quilting. gardening and spending time with family, especially her grandsons.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James Askew; son Lloyd Lee Askew; brother Denzil Mefford and sister Duprey Benton. 

 

Ms. Askew is survived by her daughter Kathy Bates (Terry) of Nashville, Tn.; two grandsons Brady Bates, Jordan Bates both of Nashville, Tn.; two sisters Wanda Smith of Cincinnati, Oh., Peggy Head of Frankfort, Ky.; daughter-in-law Barbara Askew of Hendersonville, Tn.; several nieces and nephews.

Raymond Lee Burden, 68, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Jewish  Hospital in Louisville, Ky.  He was born in Butler Co. on May 29, 1948 to the late Silas and Della Mae Cox Burden.  He was a Drywall laborer and a member of the Conservation Club. Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren Jay Raymond Morris and Maegan Hobbs; one sister Anna Lou Woosley and one brother; Ronnie Burden.

Robert Joe Proctor, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.  He was born in Butler Co. on December 12, 1956 to the late Ivan and Evelyn Wilson Proctor.  He was a truck driver at Sunshine Trucking.  He enjoyed fishing, stock cars, NASCAR, being outside and working on vehicles.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.  

 

Mr. Proctor is survived by his children Shawna Davis, Bobby Sisk, and Ashley Frames all of Bowling Green and Becky Proctor of Glasgow; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother Daniel Proctor of Bowling Green; one sister Betty Gilbert of Louisville and one niece.

Mary Ann Logan, 72, of Lewisburg, Ky. passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  She was born in Butler Co. on Dec. 8, 1944 to the late Clarence and Mary Lou Boyd Thomason .  She was a homemaker, member of Gospel Lighthouse Church and previous member of Caney Fork Presbyterian Church.  Mary Ann loved quilting, reading and babysitting.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willard Morgan Logan; 3 brothers Gary, Curtis and Warren Thomason; 3 sisters Exie Creek, Lula Wilson and Caffa  Forshee.

 

Mrs. Logan is survived by her children Gary Logan (Sonja) of Russellville, Gaberial Logan (Vicky) of Davis Crossroads and Gayla Inscoe of Russellville; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; brother Wayne Thomason of Louisville; sister in law Rita Thomason Hunt of Auburn and brother in law Thomas Creek of Louisville.

 

Funeral Service will be held at Caney Fork Presbyterian Church on Monday, March 6 , 2017 at 2 pm with Bro. ARETHA "PUNKIN" MORRIS


Aretha "Punkin" Morris, 55, of  Beaver Dam, Ky. passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  She was born in Chicago, Il. on November 22, 1961.  She was a homemaker and a member of Bible Baptist Church in Beaver Dam. Aretha enjoyed cooking, texting with her family loved her dogs and reading.  She was preceded in death by her parents John and Betty Girten and daughter Susie Lindsey. 

 

Mrs. Morris is survived by her Husband of 31 years Richard Morris of Beaver Dam;

JESSIE MAE PHELPS McCOY


Jessie Phelps McCoy, 77, of  Bowling Green, Ky. passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the Medical Center Commonwealth Specialty Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. She was born in 

Butler Co. on June 11, 1939 to the late William Ernest and Ethel Lee Ora Bell Bratcher Phelps.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed collecting a lot of different items.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband Exel McCoy, daughter Mary McCoy and several brothers and sisters. 

 

Mrs. McCoy is survived by her children: Peggy Martin (Ronald Dell) of Morgantown, James McCoy of Morgantown, Robert McCoy of Bowling Green, Ruth Ann McCoy of Bowling Green, Ora Jane Oldham (Michael) of Bossier City, LA., Angileta Jones (Jimmy) of Bowling Green;

13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; brother Jr. "Red" Phelps of Morgantown; sister Helen Clem of Marion IN; several nieces and nephews.

LILLIAN WHITAKER CARDWELL

 

Lillian Whitaker Cardwell was born September 4, 1918 to William and Osie Flener Whitaker and left for a better world February 5, 2017.  Her mother secumbed to the 1918 flu epidemic and for seven years she was raised by an aunt.  She was then moved to maternal grandparents, Jake and Arinda Coots Flener where her sister, Rhue lived.  She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church and served 60 plus years in the Eastern Star.  She married Ray Cardwell December 9, 1936 and lived a long and happy life.  She worked for many years at the Fifth District School, loved her family, traveling, gardening, cooking and UK basketball.  She is survived by five sons: Glendon L. (Bonnie) of Jupiter, Florida: Ronnie Edward (Norma) of Louisville, KY: Allen Ray (Joy Wyatt) of  Rockfield, KY: Dwight C. of Glasgow, KY: Kenny Lynn (Kaye) of Bowling Green, KY: fifteen grandchildren:  22 great grandchildren: and 14 great great-grandchildren: one sister Rhue Whitaker Flener of Bowling Green, KY.  She was preceded in death by an infant son, Lincoln C., two daughters, Beverly Nykwest (Edward):  Charlotte Jean Lindsey and one grandson, Michael Ray Hunt.  She was faithfully watched over by two loving granddaughters, Lisa Nicewinter and Laura Oliver, for many years.

 GLADEAN MCCOY GIVENS

 

Gladean McCoy Givens, 89, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Butler Co. on April 28, 1927 to the late Lucian and Thelma Jenkins McCoy.  She was a member of Morgantown First Baptist Church, a homemaker and babysitter and enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clyde Givens; sister Effie June Camfield and nephew Benny Joe McCoy. 

 

Mrs. Givens is survived by her children Gaylen Givens of Morgantown, Evon Childers of Bowling Green and Lynn Keown (Dean) of Morgantown; sister Carolyn Porter of Morgantown; brother Desper McCoy (Loyce) of Newburgh, In.; grandchildren Eric Childers (Melanie) of Georgetown, Kelli Phelps (Jim) of Morgantown, Tasha Borden (Rickey) of Bowling Green and Josh Keown (Tyann) of Louisville; great grandchildren Seth Phelps (Sheena), Tad Phelps (Stacy), Aaron Childers, Taylor Sims, Raeganne Childers, Keeli Sims and Dane Thomas Childers; great great grandchildren Marley Phelps and Amelia Sims; several nieces and nephews.

JIM WHITE 

 

Jim White, 54, of Smiths Grove, Ky. passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Medical Center Hospital.  He was born in Huntington WV on May 12, 1962 to the late Jack Richard White and Virginia Sue Hutchinson Renfrow.  He served in the US Army Reserves and worked as a plumber.  Jim had a love for muscle cars particularly Pontiac Firebirds.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack Richard White Jr. 

 

Mr. White is survived by his wife of 27 years Pamela White of Smiths Grove, Ky.; two children Hayley and Hanna White of Smiths Grove; Siblings Cindy Renfrow of Morgantown, Yewell Renfrow (Robin) of Morgantown, Yeullis Renfrow (Kim) of Morgantown, Brigham White of Rhome, Tx, Gloria Buckley (Roger) of Arkansas; many nieces and nephews.

Esther Lou Johnson Gregory, 80, of Lewisburg, Ky. passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green.  She was born in Butler Co. on July 19, 1936 to the late Norwood and Maggie Shain Johnson.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and worked at Kane's, Kellwood and Redcap for over 40 years.  She enjoyed taking care of her husband.  She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Clifton Earl Beliles; son Jerry Beliles; 5 sisters Artie Hankins, Ercie Lee, Pearl McCoy, Thelma Taylor and Bessie Wells; 4 brothers Clay, Jesse, Clifford and James Johnson. 

 

Mrs. Gregory is survived by her husband James E. Gregory of Lewisburg; step children Alan Gregory and wife Debbie of Lewisburg, Carole Payne and husband Robert of California and Jackie Gregory of Franklin, Tn.; step grandchildren Brad and Matt Wilkins, Lee Howell and Joe Gregory; several nieces and nephews.

J.D. DEWEESE

 

J. D. Deweese, 85, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Butler Co. on March 7, 1931 to the late Taylor and Eva Woosley Deweese.  He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of Woodbury Methodist Church and a self employed mechanic.  J. D. enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and riding his motorcycle.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Liz Ann Cockriel and one brother Glespie Deweese.  

 

Mr. Deweese is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Margurite Deweese of Morgantown;  daughter Kathy Falk and husband Dave of Russellville; grandson Patrick DeRoy of Bowling Green; brother M.C. Deweese of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

David Wayne Johnson, 49, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on August 3, 1967 to Carlie Jr. and Patricia Henderson Johnson who survives.  He was a member of Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church and a Sanitation worker. David liked fishing at pay lakes, watching wrestling, UK basketball and playing poker. 

 

 Mr. Johnson is survived by his parents Carlie Johnson Jr. and Patricia Henderson Johnson of Acworth, Georgia.; one sister Candy Littleton and husband Avery of Emerson Georgia;

LEONARD G. SMITH


Leonard G. Smith, 75, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Butler Co. on July 19, 1941 to the late George and Marietta Embry Smith.  He was a Minister and a member of Flatwood Church of Christ where he preached for several years. He loved to fish and one of his greatest passions was watching his grandsons play football.   He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Timothy Kirk Madison.  

 

Mr. Smith is survived by three daughters Renee Fisher and husband Tim of Bowling Green, Tosha Mudd and husband Gordon of Caneyville, Stephanie Dunn and husband Wendell of Morgantown: three grandchildren Kyle Madison and wife Mindy of Pensacola, Fl., Kent Madison of Bowling Green and Olivia Dunn of Morgantown; four great-grandchildren Chase Madison of Bowling Green, Capri Madison of Florida, Axton Anderson of  Bowling Green, Kira Mudd of Morgantown;  four step- grandchildren, Chelsie Fisher, Shanna Fisher and Seth Fisher all of Bowling Green, Chase Mudd of Morgantown;   several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; two brothers Steven Smith of Morgantown, Danny Smith and wife Brenda of Roundhill; one half sister Georgegina Tilley of Upton, Ky.

 Martha Nell Woosley, 83, of Morgantown, Ky. passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Morgantown Care & Rehab.  She was born in Butler Co. on March 12, 1933 to the late Estil Mason and Ophelia Proctor Mason.  She was a member of the Woodbury Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Awana Club.  Martha loved to crochet, work  puzzle books, sew, cats & reminiscing about the past. She was preceded in death by her parents;  Grandsons; Jonathon Hugh Henderson & Joshua Ryan Givens.  Brother; Bunie Mason. Sister; Opaline Dennis.

Mrs. Woosley is survived by her husband Linnard Woosley of Morgantown.  4 daughters; Sericea Hampton of Cromwell.  Alice Barton (George) of Morgantown. Donald "Rayburn" Britt, 79, of Cromwell, Ky. passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at his residence.  He was born in Simpson Co. on November 10, 1937 to the late David and Annie Eaton Britt.  He was of the Baptist faith, a truck driver for Goldenrod for 25 years, worked at Kendall Co. for 35 years.  He loved playing with his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, singing and playing guitar.  He was preceded in death by his parents;  2 sons Dennis Mayhew and Donald Britt Jr.;  beloved son in law Lupe Covarrubias and 2 beloved daughters in law Nicole Mayhew and Judy Mayhew;  2 brothers Jimmy D. Britt and James Britt.

Tina Gail King Crowe, 57, of  Bowling Green, Ky. passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Morgantown, Ky. on April 4, 1959 to the late Charles Ray King and Lou Evelyn Cardwell King.  Tina worked as a dietary aide at Morgantown Care & Rehab for 22 years.  She was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church and attended Christ Fellowship Church.  Tina loved helping her community by volunteering at the Hope House in Bowling Green, she also loved to cook and listen to classic rock music.  She was preceded in death by her stepson; Dustin Errol Crowe. Granddaugher; Riley Alexandria Lane. Sister Martha Ann King. Niece; Kristin Nicole Dulsky & nephew; Gerald Robert Dulsky.

 

Mrs. Crowe  is survived by her husband of 39 years; Harrison Lee Crowe of Bowling Green.  4 children; Martha Ann West (William).   Krystle Dawn Crowe and fiance Jervon Overton.   Aaron Willis Crowe (Jessica).   Charles Daniel Lee Crowe.  All Of Bowling Green. 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.  2 Brothers; Ronald Ray King (Sonya) of Bowling Green. Glenn Ray Sigler, 42, of  Linton, In. passed away Friday, December 9, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Hartford, Ky. on February 10, 1974 to the late Glenn Shepard and Donna Rae Adkins who survives.   He was preceded in death by his father and a niece.

Mr. Sigler is survived by his mother Donna Adkins; two brothers Perry and Glenn Shepard; two sisters Marissa Smith and Angela Fernandez.

THUMPER RONALD THURMAN


Thumper Ronald Thurman, 52, of  Morgantown, passed away Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Chattanooga, Tn.  He loved cooking, motorcycles, to serve and wait on people, always went the extra mile for people.  

Mr. Thurman is survived by sons Cody and Logan Thurman of Morgantown and his domestic partner Penny Stahler of Morgantown.

He will be missed by his brothers in the M.F.F.M.

 

CHARLES O. HUTCHESON JR.

Charles O. Hutcheson Jr., 86, of  Morgantown, passed away December 5, 2016 at his residence  in Morgantown, Ky. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on May 5, 1930 to the late Charles O. Hutcheson Sr. and Adelia Mildred Forsythe Hutcheson Moore.  He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, owner of Moore & Hutcheson and an avid farmer.  He was a member of Morgantown Church of Christ and involved in many civic organizations, he had a private and commercial pilot's  license.  Charlie loved farming and playing golf.   He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Eletta Hutcheson, son Charles O. Hutcheson III,  grandson Vince Hutcheson and brother David F.

Mr. Hutcheson is survived by his son John Hutcheson of Morgantown; daughter Charletta Hutcheson of Morgantown; grandchildren Jerrod Hutcheson (Tiffany) of Morgantown, Nick Hutcheson of Russellville,  Brian Hutcheson (Kristi) of Morgantown; 3 great-grandsons; 2 daughters-in-law Vickie Hutcheson of Morgantown and Lynne Hutcheson of Bowling Green.

Lucille Brown Glass, 89, of  Morgantown, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown, Ky.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on December 12, 1926 to the late James Riley and Myrtle Greathouse Brown.  Mrs. Glass was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and retired from Emerson Electric. Lucille loved her family and listening to music, especially Johnny Cash.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband J.W. Glass, daughter-in-law Brenda Glass,  three brothers James, Shelly and Heazie Brown,  sisters Nova Odle, Millie Neace, Nannie Bell Hammers, Madie Proctor and Macy Brown; one very special niece Margie Proctor Belcher.

Mrs. Glass is survived by two sons Steve Glass of Russellville, Ky. Lowell Glass (Patty) of Morgantown; one daughter Teresa Pendley (Alan) of Morgantown; 6 grandchildren  Lori Cardwell, Rhonda Yates, Celicia Glass, Jonathan Glass (Melissa), Alana Lockhart (Lance), Collin Pendley (Audrey); 7 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Daniel Brent Cannon, 70, of  Morgantown, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on May 27, 1946 to the late James "Dude" Cannon and Elirma Cox Cannon.  He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, worked in manufacturing where he made wall heaters, enjoyed writing to Mitch McConnell and watching Wheel of Fortune.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Anna Louise Lawrence.

Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife of 45 years Sue Cochran Cannon; one brother Gary Cannon; one sister Callie Dockery (Harlan) all of Morgantown.

Margaret Southerland, 94, of  Morgantown, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab Center.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on July 13, 1922 to the late Watterson McKenney and Callie Rone McKenney.  She was a Homemaker and a member of Monticello Missionary Baptist Church for 80 plus years.  Mrs. Southerland loved quilting, gardening, cooking and fed anyone who stopped by the house.  She also had a love for babysitting and had an excellent memory for genealogy.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gobel Franklin Southerland and brother Calvin McKenney.  

 She is survived by 5 children: Gary Southerland (Anita) of Morgantown, Terry Southerland of Beechcreek, Roger Southerland (Betty) of Morgantown,  Joan Smith (Don) of Morgantown,  Donna Morris (Rick) of Lexington; 6 grandchildren: Joseph Southerland (Hanna) of Belton,  Daniel Southerland(Kristen) of Morgantown,  Cheryl Westerfield (Alan) of Beaver Dam,  Serena Southerland of Morgantown,  Casey Buckley (Stephen) of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Haley Gwathney of Morgantown;  7 great grandchildren.

KENNETH EARL BARKS 

Kenneth Earl Barks, 81, of Shepherdsville, Ky. passed away Friday, November 4, 2016 at the

Baptist Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Butler Co. on October 12, 1935 to the late Clifton

Earl Barks and Ola Mae Gidcumb Barks. Kenneth was a retired Electrician from G.E., an Army

Veteran, avid UK fan, loved collecting antiques and spending time with his family. He was

preceded in death by his parents and brothers James, Wilford and Harrold Barks.

Mr. Barks is survived by his wife of 55 years Joyce Elizabeth Franzell Barks of Shepherdsville.

LOVEJOY "BUD" BROWN MARDERS

Lovejoy "Bud" Brown Marders, 89, of  Morgantown, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center, Morgantown, Ky. He was born in Memphis, Tn. on April 12, 1927 to the late Andrew Lovejoy and Margaret Taylor Brown Marders.  He retired from General Electric, was a member of Rochester United Methodist Church and was an avid 

U of L basketball fan.    He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Marders is survived by cousins Joanna Brown Blaney (John) and Pamela Brown Thompson (Garry).

Graveside Service will be held at Rochester Cemetery on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 

11 am, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

PATRICIA NEIGHBORS KING

 

Patricia Vonnell Neighbors King, 74, of  Tompkinsville, Ky., entered eternal rest Friday, October 28, 2016 at her residence in Tompkinsville. She was born in Butler Co. on June 29, 1942 to the late William Neighbors and Margie Tarrence Neighbors.  Patricia attended Church of God, loved to cook and can. She was preceded in death by her parents, son; Edward C. King, 2 step children and one brother; Estill Neighbors.

 

Mrs. King is survived by her husband of 44 years James Edward King of Tompkinsville, Ky. Son William Ray McKinney (Linda) on Indianapolis In. Daughter Patricia Marie Anderson (Jeremy) of Tompkinsville.  7 Step children and many grandchildren.  One Brother; James Neighbors of Elizabethtown.  4 sisters; Mary Fay of Leitchfield, Bernice Stovall of Greenville, Marline Webb of Brownsville, Merle Davis of Morgantown.

CHARLES LENDAL SMITH

 

Charles Lendal Smith, 65, of  Morgantown, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center, Morgantown, Ky. He was born in Butler Co. on May 6, 1951 to the late Roy and Geneva Renfrow Smith.  Charles was of the Baptist faith, a bricklayer, loved playing his guitar and listening to music.  He was preceded in death by his parents, stepdaughter  Lisa Daugherty, nephew Scott Smith and niece Alecia Moran Blunk.

 

Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter Dianna Lynn Smith of Morgantown; son Charles (Chuckie) Allen Smith of Morgantown; one step-daughter, Jennifer Phelps (Tony) both of Morgantown;  long time companion Gusta Goblet of Morgantown; three brothers Darrell Blunk of Morgantown, Billy Smith (Donna) of Bowling Green, Billy Ray Smith (Kathlyn) of Morgantown; sister Debbie Phelps (Martin) of Morgantown; uncle Lendal Renfrow (Dora) of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews.

KENNETH MOORE

 

Kenneth Moore, 90, of  Morgantown, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Harold and Gertrude Abney Moore.  He was a WWII Army Veteran, attended Chapel Union Missionary Baptist Church and retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Co.  Kenneth enjoyed working around the house.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Vida Moore, sister Erdine Moore, brothers Thomas, Thurman and Vernon "Big Jim" Moore.

 

Mr. Moore is survived by sons Dwight Moore and Bobby Moore both of Morgantown; daughter Pamela Hester (Donnie) of Morgantown; grandchildren Chad Johnson (Robin), Dwayne Moore (Lori), Terry Casey (Wanda) all of Morgantown; great grandchildren Kendra Bratcher (Cody), Matthew, Kaitlan and Ian Moore, Kyle and Kaleb Casey, Cheani and Skylar Schroeder all of Morgantown; sister Dimple Daugherty of Morgantown; sister in law Earlean Brooks of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

MARGARET HATFIELD RENEER

 

Margaret Hatfield Reneer, 80, of  Morgantown, passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016 at her residence. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. on July 25, 1936 to the late John and Stacie McIntosh Hatfield.  She was a member of  Woodbury Baptist Church, retired after working  38 years at G.E.  Margaret enjoyed playing the organ and piano, listening to gospel and country music. She also loved cooking and reading her bible.  She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Anna Basham, brothers Johnny Hatfield, Tommy Hatfield,  Butch Phelps and Sherman Hatfield; sisters Elounda Davis and Anna Boreman.

 

Mrs. Reneer is survived by husband of 54 years Clarence Reneer of Morgantown, son Curtis Ray Peak and wife Debbie of Georgia; grandchildren Kurtis Ray Peak and wife Karrie of Morgantown, Amber Dickinson and husband Duane of Virginia, Amanda Hester and husband Terry of Florida and Sierra Basham of Morgantown; great-grandchildren Madison and Lilly Peak, Avalynn Dickinson and twin siblings due in April, Terin, Paige, Abbie Hester; brothers WD and Cecil Hatfield, Otis Phelps; sister Geraldine Cecil; several nieces and nephews.

DARRICK WAYNE CANNON

 

Darrick Wayne Cannon, 51, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky. He was born in Warren County on January 13, 1965 to the late Jane Elms Cardwell and Gary Cannon who survives.  Darrick was a member of Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church and served with the Kentucky Army National Guard. He was a drywall hanger for Wilkerson Plastering - Acoustics and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his mother and sister Terrie Lynn Cannon. 

 

He is survived by son Travis Cannon and wife Sydney of Morgantown;

granddaughter Aubrey Cannon of Morgantown; wife Mary Cannon of Morgantown; 

father Gary Cannon of Morgantown and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

CARL EDWARD CLYMER

 

Carl Edward Clymer, 68, of  Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky. He was born in Oklahoma on December 29, 1947 to the late Delbert and Elva Rozell Clymer.  He was a U.S. Marine, Vietnam Veteran.  Carl was a construction worker, a member of the V.F.W.  He enjoyed hunting and remodeling old jeeps.   He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

Mr. Clymer is survived by his wife of 28 years, Mae House Clymer of Morgantown; children, Caryn Irwin of Oregon, Lisa Miller of Morgantown, James "Jimmy" Cardwell and wife Toni of Missouri; grandchildren, Clayton , Corey and Dallas Miller, Justin and Madison Cardwell, Brandon, Troy, Sandra and Dakota Irwin; great grandchildren, Ruger Dean and Taylor C. Miller; two sisters Paulin Abbott and Jean Cloud.

Barbara Kay Hunt, 69, of Morgantown passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center. She was born in Muhlenberg Co. on February 20, 1947 to the late Everett Ray and Francis Christine Carter Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John D. Hunt, sister Sue Hunt, brothers Danny, Carl, Lindel and Larry Ferguson. 

 

She is survived by one daughter Lisa Miller and husband Billy of Morgantown;

one son Timothy Hunt of Morgantown; two grandsons Joshua Miller of Russellville, Ky. and Michael Miller of Bowling Green, one brother David Ferguson of Greenville, Ky.

Adril Glenn Embry, 77, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Butler County on December 24, 1938 to the late Recil and Ruby Burden Embry. He was a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church, a self employed logger and enjoyed shooting pool and being with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David Embry.

 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Genevieve Embry of Morgantown; daughter Alicia Jones (Eddie) of Morgantown; son Adril Embry Jr. of Morgantown; 3 grandchildren Jennifer Leigh Hart (Nathan) of Owensboro, Ky., Christopher G. Jones (Brittney) of Bowling Green, Ondrea Elise Lawson (Andrey) of Bowling Green; 5 great grandchildren Eyan Justus Jones, Iyla Ruth Jones, Maebry Rose Jones, Oliver Corbet Lawson and Iris Noelle Hart; three sisters Josephine Barks of Morgantown, Dee Renfrow (J.B.) of Morgantown, Jean Felty (Ross) of Morgantown;

Tommy White, 72, of  Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Greenview Regional  Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on December 14, 1943 to the late Glen Thomas and Florence Ellis White.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, worked as a  self employed truck driver, a member of Woodbury Baptist Church and the VFW Post 5837. Tommy enjoyed riding horses and spending time with his grandson Jacob.   He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Glenn Thomas White III.

 

Mr. White is survived by his daughter Kelly Richmond and husband David of  Morgantown; one grandson Jacob Richmond and fiancé Mary Johnson of Morgantown; one granddaughter Ashlenn White Phelps and husband Kevin of Morgantown; three sisters Janice Burch of Bowling Green, Aleta Clark and husband Cotton, Kanita Waddle and husband Toby both of Morgantown; two brothers Wade and Willie White both of Morgantown.

William Oakley Coots, 73, of  Dunbar, Ky. passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at his residence.  William was born August  17, 1943  in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Oakley and Ruby Flener Coots.  He was a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church, and Banock Lodge 824. He was an avid deer hunter, fisherman and liked to watch Cincinnati Reds Baseball, Kentucky Wildcats Basketball and entertaining his grandchildren. William was a retired foreman from A&G Tree Service.  He was  preceded  in death by his parents, sister Dorothy Coots Flener; brother Jimmy Coots.

 ELIZABETH WARD

 

Elizabeth Ward, 92, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky. She was born in Butler County on April 20, 1924 to the late Clarence and Glennie Martin Webster. Elizabeth was a member of Morgantown United Methodist Church and retired from GE.  She loved quilting, canning, making homemade bread, playing rook, dancing and loved her dog Max. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands James Ward and Robert Lamastus; one daughter Edra Dean Hampton; one son Wilbur D. Ward and grandson Christopher D. Ward.    

 

She is survived by two grandsons Greg Hampton (Renee) of Morgantown, Kevin Hampton (Julie) of Morgantown; four great-grandsons Josh Hampton (Jennifer) of Morgantown, Jacob Hampton, of Morgantown, Landon Hampton (Andrea) of Bowling Green, Cody Dale Ward of Morgantown; one great-granddaughter Leah Chandler (Cody) of Scottsville, Ky.; three great-great grandchildren Noah James Chandler, Paisyn Chandler, Laney Bell Hampton; 

son-in-law Bobby Hampton.

MAXINE M. DUNCAN GIVENS

                                           

Maxine M. Duncan Givens, 88,  of Louisville, Ky. Loving Mother and friend to all her children, Grandchildren, and friends, passed from this life on August 21, 2016 to be with her Heavenly Father.

She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Louisville, KY. Born February 14, 1928 to Veachel and Vadie Elizabeth Duncan in Butler Co, KY. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Forrest O. Givens; brother, Darrel Duncan; sister, Waneda Hunter.

 

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Ann Payne (Larry); Hila Barker(Randy); sons, Donald Givens(Linda); Doyle Givens(Debbie); and stepson, Troy Givens(Mayetta); 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Geraldine Johnson; and brothers, Simpson and Kenneth Duncan. 

Maxine was a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Lillie Mae McKinney, age 103, of  Morgantown,  departed this life on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Morgantown Care and Rehab.   She was born in Butler Co. on December 1, 1912 to the late Ottis Givens and Clara Bowers Givens Brown. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and had a love for quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack McKinney, son Don McKinney, brothers Marvin and Ivan Glendell Givens and sister Exie Andrews. 

 

She is survived by son; Bobby Joe McKinney of Morgantown, Ky. 3 grandchildren; Mike McKinney (Francis) of Woodburn, Ky. Erdest C. Evans, 86, of Morgantown left this world on Monday, August 15, 2016 on his farm where he was raised and loved so much.  He was born in Butler Co. on April 2, 1930 to the late Closter and Ollie Kessinger Evans. Husband of the late Bessie Moore Evans. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, retired from Delta Faucet in Morgantown. Erdest loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Carolyn Renee Evans, brother Troy Evans and sister Marietta Blacklock.

Randell P. Duke, 72, of  Roundhill, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Morgantown Care and Rehab. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on July 19, 1944 to the late Larn and Edna Cockrell Duke.  He was an Army Veteran, worked at Delta Faucet and loved to collect baseball cards and coins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Myrtie Duke; son, Dewey Duke; brothers, Kenny and Dewey Duke and infant, D.C. Duke; sisters, Ruth Bratcher, Evon Henderson, Jeanie Ingram, Teresa Howard and infant, Hazel Duke.

ROBERT E. STAHL, SR.


Robert E. Stahl, Sr. 86, of  Morgantown, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Greenwood Nursing and Rehab in Bowling Green, Ky. He was born in Todd Co., Ky. on March 31, 1930 to the late Joe Stahl and Clemmie Belcher.  He served in the Army during the Korean War and worked in Indianapolis for many years.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley Stahl and 4 brothers.

 

Mr. Stahl is survived by his 3 children, Deborah Greb of Morgantown, Samuel Stahl and wife Peggy of Indianapolis, IN and Robert Stahl II of Bowling Green; 4 grandsons, Jason Greb of Morgantown, Samuel Stahl II and Daniel Stahl both of Indianapolis and Matthew Stahl of Glasgow; sister, Pat Dennis of Indianapolis, IN.

WILLIAM LESTER CHILDRESS 

 

William Lester Childress, 62, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.  Mr. Childress was born January 15, 1954  in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Garland Edwin and Dora Catherine Niccum Childress.  He was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church, shop foreman for M&L Electrical in Bowling Green. Lester enjoyed farming, being a diesel mechanic and flying airplanes. He was  preceded  in death by his parents,  brother Everett "Buddy" Childress and infant brother Raymond Childress.

 

Mr. Childress is survived by two daughters Heather Leigh Childress of Louisville, Ky.

Amanda "Cissy" Childress of Bowling Green; fiancé  Sharon Deweese of Morgantown;

three brothers Charles Cameron Childress (Belinda), James Childress and Max Childress all of Morgantown, two sisters Patricia Pendley (Steve) of Provo, Ramona Fisher (Steve) of Morgantown; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.

LT. COL. RODNEY KELBERT GIVENS                                          

 

                                                

Rodney  Kelbert Givens, 86, of Quality, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, Tn.  He was born in the community of Quality in  Butler Co., Ky. on September 20, 1929 to the late Ross and Eliza Hope Givens. Rodney was a member of Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Ky. Mr. Givens graduated from Morgantown High School in 1948 and from Western Ky. University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.  While in college he was a member of the Arnold Air Society. Following College graduation,  he entered the U.S. Air Force for a 20 year career which included working for the Strategic Air Command and for the Air Training Command.  He was chosen to attend and graduated from Squadron Officers School and Air Command and Staff College at the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.  He also graduated from the Petroleum Institute in Oxford, England.  He obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  Lt. Col. Givens was selected the outstanding member of the Air Training Command. He received 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and a  Bronze Star for outstanding work in Vietnam.  He is a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association and Air Force Association. He was a Golden Eagle in the National Rifles Association. Following his career in the Air Force, Lt. Col. Givens returned to Butler Co. and owned and operated the Quality Charolais Farm until 2014. He was a member of the Butler Co. Stockmans Ass., Ky. Cattleman Ass., Ky. Charolais Ass. and the American International Charolais Ass. 

 

Mr. Givens became interested in Forestry and became a Certified tree farm.  In 2004 he received the Courier Journal Tom Wallace Farm Forestry award for having carried out an outstanding multiple use forest management program.   In 2010  he received 3rd place for the State of Ky. Outstanding  Forest Steward. He was chosen Butler Co. Master Conservationalist.  He was a member of the Ky. Woodland Ass. and the National Woodland Ass. Mr. Givens is a Mason of the Cassia Lodge #272 in Morgantown, the Western Ky Scottish Rite of Freemasonary in Madisonville, Ky., and Rizpah Shriners in Madisonville, Ky. 

 

Lt. Col. Givens is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marjorie Maddox and brother in law Robert Maddox. 2 nephews; Waymon McKinney & Randy McKinney. 

 

Mr. Givens is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen Lee Givens of Quality, Ky. 1 daughter; Kyllie Doughty (Tim) of Woodbury, Ky. 1 Son; Joseph Ross Givens (Debbie) of Morgantown, Ky. 3 grandchildren; Ryan Doughty (Andrea) of Louisville, Ky.  Chad Doughty (Amber) of Morgantown, Ky. Laura Lynn Wilson (Billy) of Morgantown, Ky. 4 great grandchildren; Hannah, Dean, Wyatt & Melody Doughty of Morgantown. 1 Nephew; Kerry McKinney (Lesia) of Morgantown, Ky. Several great nieces and nephews.

Teresa Carol Duke Howard, 56, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at her daughter's residence. She was born in Leitchfield, Ky. on August 21, 1959 to the late Larn and Edna Cockrell Duke.  Teresa was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.  She loved to read, visiting with her grandchildren, writing poetry and taking care of her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, D. C., Dewey and Kenny Duke; four sisters, Hazel Duke, Evon Henderson, Ruth Bratcher and Virginia Ingram.  

 

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Lafe Howard of Morgantown; daughter, Pam Carmack (Vince) of Morgantown; son, Jeremiah Howard (fiance' Ashley) of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren, Kayla Graham (Bradley), Michael Cortez both of Morgantown, Alexis and Journey Howard both of Madisonville, Evan Cleaveland, Gibson Felty and Elliott Howard all of Beaver Dam; two great grandchildren, Bryson and Ember Graham of Morgantown; brother, Randell Duke of Roundhill and two sisters, Brenda Lawrence of Louisville and Vickie Henderson (Jerry) of Morgantown.

Loreda Dean Renfrow Hatcher, age 71, of Morgantown passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Morgantown Care and Rehab.  She was born on Nov. 2, 1944 to the late Hillary and Gracie Felty Renfrow.  She was a member of Big Muddy Missionary Baptist Church, a homemaker, loved to clean, do crossword puzzles and watch game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jimmy Hatcher; granddaughter Jaclyn Daugherty; grandson Alex Foster; sisters Jean Carroll and Sherlyn Stice.

 

Dean is survived by three children, Todd Hatcher, Neal Hatcher and wife Stacy and Jennifer Daugherty all of Morgantown; two grandsons Logan Foster and Dawson Daugherty both of Morgantown; one brother Jimmy Renfrow and wife Karen of Bowling Green; two sisters in law Sandra Hunt of Morgantown and Carol Law of Bowling Green; one brother in law Lowell Hatcher of Morgantown and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth Ann Smith, 68, of Bowling Green passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Ky. She was born in Bonne Terre, MO. on September 4, 1947 to the late John and Mabel Mockey Ellis. Ruth was a caregiver, attended the United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. She loved painting, gardening, crocheting and crafts . She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Ronnie and Kevin Branch, great- grand daughter Heartlynn Grace Ann King and several brothers.  

 

She is survived by one daughter April Trussell (Robert) of Bowling Green; Step-children Jonathan Smith, James Smith and Angie Cox; grandchildren Dakota Branch (Rosa Echeverria), Chelsey Trussell, Samuel Banks, Autumn King (James), Ashley, Jonathan, Aidean, Mackenzie and Abigail Smith; Cody and Adrienne White, Brooklyn and Bryson Cox, Cynthia Brooks; Great-grandkids Jasmine and Jason Echeverria, Jacob Branch and Emma King; one brother Wendy Ellis (Bobbie Smith); one sister Betty Whittaker; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ronnie (Rockhead) Jones, 57, of Morgantown passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola, MS. He was born in Butler Co. on February 4, 1959 to the late Ray and Elizabeth Phelps Jones. Ronnie was a member of the Temple View General Baptist Church. He was a truck driver and loved people and would do anything for you. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Douglas Jones. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Connie Hammers Jones of Morgantown; one daughter Lana Jones Russ of Morgantown; one son Christopher Glenn Garner of Morgantown; 6 grandchildren Ivan Hunter Russ, Breanna Marie Russ, Hannah, Jacob, Destiny and Brennan Garner; 1 great-grandchild Paisley A. Garner; one sister Jennifer Odle and husband Carson of Morgantown, three brothers Larry Ray Jones of Cromwell, Ky., Timmy G. Jones and wife Vickie of Morgantown, Johnnie Ray Jones and wife Joan of Morgantown; several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog Sasha.

ELIZABETH "MYRL" HINES OVERSTREET

 

 

Elizabeth "Myrl" Hines Overstreet, 89, of Morgantown passed away Friday, June 24, 2016.  She was born on May 14, 1927 to the late Seth and Elizabeth Dye Hines.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Overstreet and grandson, Keith Martin. 

 

Mrs. Overstreet was a member of the United Methodist Church of Morgantown.  Her passion was cooking and baking.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Jones (Gary) of Bowling Green, Mary Basile (Joe) of Gallatin, Tn. and Clara Owens (Herman) of Bowling Green; three sons, William Overstreet (Janet), Kenny Overstreet and Glenn Overstreet (Lois) all of Morgantown; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Morgantown on Monday, June 27 from 9:00-11:00am.  Private graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Thomas Franklin Campbell, 81, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Dyersburg, In. on August 28, 1934 to the late Lawrence and Dicie Pearl Campbell.  Mr. Campbell was of the Baptist faith, loved yard work, mowing and watching T.V. westerns. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; JoAnn Campbell. His parents. 2 sisters; Dorothy & Pat. 1 brother; Gene Campbell. 

 

He is survived by his wife Shelia Webster Campbell of Morgantown. 1 son; Gerald T. Joseph Frank Putka, 77, of Bowling Green, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green. He was born in Medina, Ohio on September 2, 1938 to the late Joseph Putka and Ciellia Michials.  Mr. Putka was a member of the VFW Post 1298, American Legion, Moose Lodge and the DAV. Joseph retired after 26 years in the US Navy SEABEES.  He also loved working on cars.  He was preceded in death by his parents.. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 31 years Diana K. Putka of Bowling Green; 2 brothers; Gerald Putka of Medina Oh and Raymond Putka of Fort Lauderdale Fl.

She was born in Ohio on October 27, 1932 to the late Warren and Elizabeth Dever Prewitt.  She was a caregiver and homemaker who loved to cook for her family and friends.  Wanda loved people and was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny Kelly; brother, James Prewitt;  sister, Helen Muller.

Lynette Adams Bratcher, 66, of Cromwell passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the Beaver Dam Care & Rehab Center. She was born in Ogden, Utah on October 11, 1949 to the late Roy Adams and Colleen Alford Adams O'Neal . Mrs. Bratcher was a housewife,  member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints in Hartford.  She loved feeding and watching birds, cross stitching, most of all loved being a wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother C.T. O'Neal.

Bobby Pendley, 84, of Provo, Ky. passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Provo, Ky. on April 26, 1932 to the late James Henry and Laura Edith Tines Pendley. Mr. Pendley was a Coal Miner, farmer and a member of Monticello Missionary Baptist Church and Casia Lodge #272.  He loved baseball, fishing and his cattle. He was preceded in death by wife Lucy Pendley, daughter Karon Pendley, brother Billy Pendley and sister Adeline Johnson.

 

He is survived by two sons David Pendley and wife Mesha of Provo, Ky., Steven Pendley and wife Patricia of Rochester, Ky.; one daughter Rita Haynes of Leitchfield, Ky.;

10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother Dwight Pendley and wife Carlon of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews.

Edra Dean Hampton, 73, of  Morgantown passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.  She was born in Butler Co. on February 8, 1943 to the late James H. Ward and Elizabeth Martin Ward.  Edra studied with the Jehovah Witness, she served a term with the Morgantown City Council.  Edra was an entrepreneur in Morgantown having opened several businesses throughout the years, such as the Bears Den and the Hillside Restaurant.   She most recently had several real estate rental properties she managed.  She was preceded in death by her Father, brother Wilbur D. Ward and nephew Christopher D. Ward.
 
Edra Dean is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bobby Hampton of Morgantown. 2 sons; James Gregory Hampton & wife Renee of Morgantown. Kevin Ward Hampton and wife Julie of Morgantown. 3 grandsons; Josh Hampton & wife Jennifer of Morgantown. Landon Hampton and wife Andrea of Bowling Green. Steve Merideth, 48, of  Morgantown passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 at his residence.  He was born in Warren Co. on May 14, 1967.  Steve was a former truck driver for B&J Sanitation, a farmer, a member of Hillvue Heights Baptist Church and a proud supporter of 4-H, FFA and the Extension Service.  He served on the boards of 4-H, Extension Service, Butler Co. Young Farmers, Butler Co. Stockman's Association and the Butler County Engine and Tractor Club.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Henry R. and Delpha Merideth and Charles and Clyde Garrett, nephew Christopher Dylan Merideth. 

 

Steve is survived by his wife Rhonda Merideth of Morgantown; daughter Ashley Merideth of Morgantown; parents Henry and Vicky Merideth of Morgantown; brother Brad Merideth and wife Samantha of Morgantown; sister Amanda Jones and husband Derrick of Smiths Grove; nieces Malia Merideth and Alyssa and Rileigh Jones; nephews Dylan and Tanner Merideth and Alex Cline.

Jonathan Ray McDaniel, 32 of  Morgantown passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at the TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tn..  He was born in Warren Co. on June 29, 1983 to John Doe McDaniel and the late Cindy Carol Hicks McDaniel.  Jonathan was a Drywall hanger and worked for Hancock Sanitation.  He attended White Ridge Church, loved going to the races and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his mother, sister Josephine Smith, grandparents James Larry (Cowboy) McDaniel, Anna Josephine Alcorn McDaniel; grandfather Clifton C. Hicks. 

 

He is survived by Father John Doe McDaniel of Morgantown; Children Shelby Hope and James Dalton McDaniel of Morgantown; Three sisters Amanda Carol White and husband Jeremy, Anna Jo Milam and husband Joshua, Samantha Josephine Milam all of Morgantown;

Cindy Carol Hicks McDaniel, 52, of Morgantown passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 in Warren Co. Ky., She was born in Jefferson Co., Ky. on June 24, 1963 to the late Clifton C. and Flora Agnes Autry Hicks who survives. Mrs. McDaniel was a homemaker and attended White Ridge Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and planting flowers. She was preceded in death by her father, daughter Josephine Smith, son Jonathan McDaniel and nephew Timothy Hicks.

Gilda Sue Blackwell Orange, 67 of  Morgantown passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at her residence in Morgantown, Ky.  She was born in Logan Co. on May 3, 1948 to Newman and Ruth Dowell Blackwell.  Gilda was a retired factory worker, and loved her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Franklin D. Orange and one step-brother Howard Blackwell.

She is survived by her one daughter Sophia Herrera and husband Jose of Morgantown; two grandsons Tanner and Sam Herrera of Morgantown; two sisters Barbara Johnson of Bowling Green and Lisa Aguirre of Russellville, Ky.; special nephews Cole and Mason Aguirre of Russellville, Ky.

Roy Kirby, 83, of  Utica, Ky. passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on May 11, 1932 to the late Thomas and Erdeen Jenkins Kirby.  He retired from Orbit Gas, enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, farming and mostly playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Janice Kirby and several brothers and sisters.

 

Roy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geneavive Kirby of Utica; son, Roger Wayne Kirby (Sandy) of Owensboro; daughters, Charlotte Dunn (Anthony) and Connie Staves (David) both of Utica; grandchildren, Shanna, Misty, Jeshuah, Janzen, Jacie, Cainnan, Carub and Cody; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Helen Daughtery of Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Marcella Tarrence Dockery, 81 of  Morgantown passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.  She was born in Grayson Co. on April 15, 1935 to Lukis James and Mary Mollyhorn Tarrence.  Mrs. Dockery was retired from Kanes with over 20 years of service and attended Warrens Mill Church of Christ.  She loved her family, puzzle books, reading, gardening, yard sales and had a love for gospel music. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rhonda Snodgrass, granddaughter Terra Jo Dockery and several brothers and sisters.  

 

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Jewell Barrnett Dockery of Morgantown; Four sons Frankie Dockery (Marsha) of Indiana, Terry Dockery (Teresa) of Burlington, Ky., Larry Dockery (Julie) of Morgantown, Shawn Dockery (Kyla) of Morgantown: Three daughters Kay Moore (Roger) of Morgantown, Shannon Clark (Jay) of Morgantown, Tracy Pharris (Johnny) of Morgantown; 19 grandchildren: Michelle Franzell, Rachel Pinson, Huston Dockery, Robby Dockery, Corey Dockery, Brenden Mills, Eric Moore, Erin Moore, Brandy Smith, Brooke Gabbard, Adam Dockery, Kyle Dockery, Khrystin Ballenger, Drew Clark, Seth Pharris, Lyndzie Pharris, Shawna Tarrence, Chloe Dockery and Cardyn Dockery; 23 great-grandchildren; Three brothers Kendall, Mike and Ricky Tarrence; Three sisters Tootsie Bratcher, Betty Kerr and Brenda Priest, and Son-in-law Arthur Snodgrass.

Ruby G. Hill, age 96, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at her residence in Boyds, Maryland. She was the wife of the late David H. Hill., Born Oct. 13, 1919 in Nelson, Kentucky a daughter of the late Vol T. and Mattie Annis Garrett.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, April 21, at Greenridge Baptist Church, 21925 Frederick  Road, Clarksburg from 2:30 p.m. until funeral services begin at 4:00 pm. Pastor Tim Simpson will officiate.

JAMES "JIMMY" VERNON COOTS

 

 

James "Jimmy" Vernon Coots, 68, of Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Saturday evening, April 16, 2016 at his residence from complications with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on July 12, 1947 to the late Oakley and Ruby Flener Coots. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, Tres Dias and the Franklin Co. Vietnam Veterans Group, a Sergeant having served in the US Army with one tour in Vietnam. He was a gracious, mighty man of God who loved and served God, his family and country. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Dorothy Flener.

 

Mr. Coots is survived by his wife Victoria Coots of Bowling Green; three daughters Charlotte Renee Snell of Sierra Vista ,AZ; Nicole Sperle and Rick of Sierra Vista, AZ; Jamie Snell of Shelton, WA; two sons Thomas Jay Coots and Jaynei of Virginia Beach, VA; Joshua Oakley Coots and Aki of Lexington, Ky; grandchildren Keegan Lee Snell, Kelsea Maria Tenney, Phaydra Saree Adams, Andrew Dean Sperle, Sedona Vaye Snell, Jackson Thomas Coots, and Harvey Jay Coots.

Robin E. Hudnall, 53, of  Rochester, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on Sept. 28, 1962.  He was a laborer for Heimbrock out of Local Union 1392, loved playing basketball and hunting with his boys and enjoyed playing with his grandkids.  He was preceded in death by his father, James Harry Hudnall and brother, Ricky Hudnall.

 

Robin is survived by 4 sons, Cody Hudnall and wife Stephanie, Matt Hudnall and wife Brittany all of Quality, Lucas Hudnall of Rochester and Dillon Hudnall of Ohio Co.; 3 grandchildren, Leah, Kennadee and Cash all of Quality; his mother, Joyce Hudnall of Rochester; companion, Charlotte Agee of Ohio Co.; brothers, Joe Hudnall and wife Kelly of Muhlenberg Co., Buddy Hudnall and wife Karen of Owensboro; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and a great great niece and nephew.

William Daniel "Danny" Harral, 63, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at his residence.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on June 6, 1952 to the late William Fonzo and Bessie Clark Harral.  He was a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church and a retired cosmetologist.  He loved refinishing furniture and interior design.  He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Delphia Mae Coleman, Mary Elizabeth Hunt, Patricia Abell and Wanda Jean Harral; niece Patricia Hunt Knight.

 

Danny is survived by 5 nephews, Richard Coleman, John Coleman and Neal Hunt all of Morgantown, Patrick Abell of Lewisburg, Michael Todd Abell of Memphis; niece, Tammy Daily of Greenfield, Tn.; brother in law, William Darrel Abell of Greenfield, Tn. and many great nieces and nephews; special friend, Jonathon Smith of Morgantown; special brother, Phillip Lloyd and wife Jackie of Morgantown .

Danny Ray Adkins, 49, of  Greenville, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on April 28, 1966.  He was a team leader at Daicel Safety Systems and attended Greenville First Assembly of God Church.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Adkins and brother, Charles Lee Adkins.

 

Danny is survived by wife, Carol Adkins of Greenville; daughter, Ashley Beasley and fiance, Jeremy Boyd of Morgantown; son, D.C. Shelia Ann Howard Smith, 69, of  Morgantown, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Medical Center.  She  was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Nov. 26, 1946 to the late Willie D. Howard and Capitolia Kitchens Sublett.  She was a member of Pleasant Rock Full Gospel Church, Healthcare worker, truck driver, painter and a clerk at Aberdeen Grocery, also loved animals and skating.  She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Frank and Daisy Kitchens.

 

Ms. Smith is survived by 3 children, Marilyn Jett, Tammy Deel and Thomas Smith all of Morgantown; 2 brothers, Chester Smith and wife Peggy, Jesse Sublett and wife Carol all of Logansport; sister, Nioka Sublett of Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Halston Jett, Mason and Madison Daugherty all of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews.

HAROLD DOUGLAS GIVENS

 Harold Douglas Givens, 76, of  Quality, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Medical Center. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on June 20, 1939 to the late June and Letha Cartwright Givens. He was a member of the Quality Missionary Baptist Church and of the Army National Guard having served during the Berlin Crisis.  He was a diesel mechanic, farmer and retired from TVA.  He also enjoyed landscaping.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Givens and sister, Glenda Bowers.

Mr. Givens is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sibyl Givens; 3 children, Samuel Douglas Givens and wife Carol, Leesia Givens and Harold Kent Givens and fiance Roni Lashelle Fowler all of Quality; 3 grandchildren, Samantha Childress and husband Charles, Jessica Givens, Cody Givens and wife Cholla; 5 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

RONNIE G. WEST

 Ronnie G. West, 63, of  Morgantown,  passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on August 5, 1952 to the late Alston and Velma Payton West. He was a Drywall Hanger and a member of the Leonard Oak Baptist Church.  He was a Ky. Colonel, loved to race cars, go to church and was a jack of all trades. He loved to fish and spend time with his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

MORRIS EUGENE FISHBURN

                                                

Morris Eugene Fishburn, 70, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Jan. 10, 1946 to the late Roy and Jean Neighbors Fishburn.   He was a truck driver, member of Masonic Lodge # 272 and liked to do mechanic work.  He was preceded in death by his parents. 

 

Morris is survived by his wife, Lisa Fishburn of Browder; three daughters, Della Fishburn (Don), Linda Embry, and Teresa Proctor all of Morgantown; son, Dwight Fishburn of Bowling Green; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Davidson.

Linda Kaye Blaine Gaither, 65 of  Blanchester, Oh., passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at her residence.  She was born in Morgantown, Ky. on March 23, 1950, to Cleburne and Susie Mae McPherson Blaine.  Ms. Gaither was a CMA,  member of  Centertown Holiness Church.  She loved to crochet, make quilts and sing gospel music. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Rena Flener, sisters Brenda Lou Leonard, Carolyn Wendle and brother Joseph Steve Blaine. 

She  is survived by three children; Roger Phelps (Trasha) of  Richland, N.C., Ralph Phelps (Sherry) of Morgantown, Maranda Kaye Geary (William) of  Blanchester, OH.,11 grandchildren;  two brothers Tony Blaine (Helen) of Cowden, IL., Tommy Blaine (Sandy) of Rantoul, IL.

Patricia JoAnn Elmore, 71, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Medical Center.  She was born in Louisville, Ky. on June 4, 1944 to the late John and Doris Pulliam Gross.  Patricia worked at D&W Sales and Service in Louisville also at Foodland in Morgantown.  She attended Aberdeen Baptist Church, enjoyed cooking, country music and taking care of her grandkids and spending time with her family.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by husband, James Elmore; son, Douglas Flynn; daughter, Doris Brown and grandson, Keith Flynn.

 

Ms. Elmore is survived by daughters, Cathy Ackerman (Ronnie) of Louisville, Jayme Norris (Rich) of Morgantown; sons, Tommy Flynn (Faith) of Louisville, John Elmore (Carly) and James Elmore (Rachel) both of Morgantown; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Candie Moore of OH;  special friends, Wendy Pablo, Papaw Doyle and Ann and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Kellis Embry Moore, 70, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Rockcastle Regional Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ky. She was born in Butler Co. on October 28, 1945 to the late Owen Embry & Nova Duke Embry. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Johnny Moore and many siblings.

Mary is survived by3 Children; Jim Edward Phelps(Kelli) of Rochester. Michelle Tutko of Morgantown. Brad Phelps (Nikki) of Rochester. 6 Grandchildren; Seth Phelps (Sheena) of Hawaii. Tad Phelps(Stacy) of Bowling Green. Chelsea Shenefield (Casey) of Morgantown. Destiny Phelps of Pensacola, Fl. Zac Tutko of Morgantown. Cooper Phelps of Rochester.

CAROLYN SUE DYE JOHNSON

 

Carolyn Johnson, 77, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, February 8, 2016 at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Jan. 13, 1939 to the late H.E. and Thurlow Renfrow Dye.  Carolyn was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church, a factory worker at Holley Carburetor for 15 plus years and loved her grandbabies.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Forest Johnson; sisters Margie Burris, Naomi Stevens; brothers  Rollin, Edwin, Maurice and Wandell Dye. 

 

Ms. Johnson is survived by son Jonathan Johnson (Susan) of Morgantown; granddaughter Alisha Holland (Jon) of Russellville; great-grandchildren Isaiah and Alivia-Jo Holland; several nieces and nephews. 

 

Funeral Service will be held at Cool Springs General Baptist Church on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 2 pm with Bro. David Youngblood officiating.  Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-9 pm and Thursday from 8 am until 1 pm at Smith Funeral Home, at which time we will travel to the church in procession for the funeral.

Alta "Doodle" Akin Neal, 90, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Dunbar, Ky. on June 30, 1925 to the late John and Letha Bingham Akin.  Ms. Neal was a member of Carve Rock Baptist Church and was a retired cook at Lakeview Nursing Home.  She enjoyed quilting, gardening and crocheting.  Other than her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Albert Neal; brothers, Wendell and Robert Akin; sister, Clarise Akin; 2 sons in law, Estill Gidcumb and Kenneth Brashars.

 

Ms. Neal is survived by 2 daughters, Daris Gidcumb Brashars of Morgantown,  Brenda Keown and husband Royce of Morgantown; 3 grandchildren, Angie Hope and husband Brian of Logansport, Deanna Hunt and husband Scott of Bowling Green and Greg Keown of Morgantown; 5 great grandchildren, Sasha Overstreet and husband Cole of Morgantown, Hillary Womack and husband Jarod,  Drew Hunt and Mollie Hunt all of Bowling Green, Haley Hope of Logansport; 4 great great grandchildren, Bella Womack, Oliver Womack, Remy Womack and Noah Overstreet; several nieces and nephews.

Diedra "Die" Lee Wilson, 92, of  Morgantown, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Butler Co. on October 15,1923 to
 the late Sherman and Okla Small Lee. She was a homemaker and a member of Flatwood Church of Christ.  Diedra loved her grandchildren, flowers and gardening.   Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Chalmer (Toy) Wilson and siblings Talmage Lee, Lerema Legge and Tracy Lee.

Carolyn Sue "Mama Carolyn"  Flener, 77, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at her residence.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on Feb. 18, 1938 to the late Alva and Ava Burden Johnson.  Mrs. Flener was a member of Richland Baptist Church, an avid UK fan, who loved children and retired from childcare after 30 years.  She loved her family and especially her grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Golda McCloskey and Kathryn Smith; 1 brother, JR Johnson.

Mrs. Flener is survived by her husband of 46 years, H.C. Flener of Morgantown; 3 children, Lisa Milburn and husband Matt of Bowling Green, Mandy House and husband Reed of Morgantown and Chris Flener and wife Charity of Bowling Green; 8 grandchildren, Jackson Milburn of Bowling Green, Zoie, Wiley and Henry House of Morgantown, Tatem and Talen Flener and Michelle and Ethan Cardwell all of Bowling Green.

Myrtle Peay Givens, 89, of  Huntsville, Ky., passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  She was born in Rochester, Ky. on May 8, 1926 to the late Ervin and Opaline Hammers Peay.  Mrs. Givens was a member of Rochester Missionary Baptist Church and a Janitorist at Peabody Coal.  She enjoyed playing bingo and activities at the nursing home.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilma Givens; grandson, Bradley Ferrell; son, Willie Ray Givens and brothers, George, Will, Ruben, Henry C., Paul, Chester and Glenn Peay; sisters, Pauline Smith, Jewell Neese and Lucy Peay.

Geneva Gray Henning, 60 of  Owensboro, Ky., passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 at the Heartford House in Owensboro.  She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on September 22, 1955 to the late John and Mildred Walley Gray.  Mrs. Henning was a homemaker and a member of Wesleyan Christian Center. Geneva loved being on her computer, playing games and watching television. 

She  is survived by husband: Steve Henning of Owensboro; daughter: Debbie Johnson of Morgantown; grandchildren: Emily and Dalton Johnson both of Morgantown; sister: Robbie Gray of Boston, Ma.; brother: Tim Gray (Jill) of Magnolia, Ky.; step-daughters: Sabrina and Samantha Henning both of Owensboro; niece:  Felicia Gray of Elizabethtown; step-grandchildren:  Morgan, Roby, Madison, Mateo, Bella, Sophie; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Susan "Susie" Morris Lindsey, 37, of  Morgantown,  passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Medical Center Hospital,. She was born in Owensboro, Ky. on May 26,1978 to Richard Lee and Aretha Pierce Morris.   She was a production worker at LifeSkills  and  a member of New Liberty Baptist Church.  She loved to color, do word search games, write in her journal, watch television, and loved listening to country music.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents Franklin Morris Sr. and Gydlene Hoover Morris, John and Betty Girten.

Mrs. Lindsey is survived by her husband of 11 yrs. Richard Lindsey of Morgantown; one son Jodie Lee Morris of Beaver Dam, Ky.; parents Richard Lee and Aretha G. Morris of Beaver Dam, Ky.; mother in law Marylene Cline of Morgantown; two sisters Bonnie Daugherty and husband Josh of Fordsville, Ky., Erica Morris of Hartford, Ky.; two brothers Ricky Lee Morris of Beaver Dam, Ky.; Jamie Lee Morris and wife Brooke  of Hartford, Ky.; three nieces and three nephews.

Jeffrey Allen Henderson, 57, of  Morgantown,  passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He was born in Logan Co., Ky. on Jan. 18, 1958 to the late John and Elaine Baxter Henderson.   He was a truck driver and a member of Sandy Creek Missionary Baptist Church.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jonathon Henderson and two brothers, Harold and Lonnie Henderson.

 

Mr. Henderson is survived by his wife Kim Henderson of Morgantown; son, Michael Dale Henderson of Morgantown; grandchildren, Kasosha Turner, Autumn and Gavin Henderson; great grandchild, Keenan West; sister, Linda Clark and lifelong friends, Bill Childress and Tommy Maxfield.

Lenis E. Gidcumb, 81, of  Morgantown,  passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Dunbar, Ky. on April 11, 1934 to the late Roy and Eula Kemp Gidcumb.   He was a carpenter and  a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church.  He loved playing pool, buying, selling and trading and spending time with his family.  He never met a stranger.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Estel and Lonnie Gidcumb and one sister Dorthy Gidcumb.

 

Mr. Gidcumb is survived by his wife of 60 yrs. Nancy Gidcumb of Morgantown; daughter, Linda Gidcumb and husband Chris of Hartford; son, Ronnie Gidcumb and wife Irina of Morgantown; four grandsons, Jason Graham and wife Dwan, Kyle Graham and wife Leeah, Kellen Gidcumb and wife Erica and Lance Gidcumb and wife Courtney; two step grandchildren, Efraim and Sergio Rada; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Marlene Tyree, Hazel Miller, Ovie Coots, Edna Minton, Cassie McKinney, Pearl Kitchens and Patty Leach and brother, Ellis Gidcumb; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

DOROTHY PENDLEY CAUDILL

 

Dorothy Caudill, 89, of  Franklin, Ky., passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Signature Healthcare in Bowling Green, Ky.  She was born in Morgantown, Ky. on June 16, 1926 to the late Clido and Eva Bingham Pendley.  She spent her life serving others, caring for her family, always counseling us to do better.  She enjoyed cooking, working in her yard, planting flowers and sewing.  She was a great provider to her family and will be so very missed. 
She was preceded in death by husband, Richmond Caudill, one son, Richard Owen Caudill; brother, Glen Pendley and sister, Omie Kimmel.

 

Dorothy is survived by 6 children, 4 sons;  Rodger Caudill and Robert Caudill both of Ashland City, Tn.; David Caudill of Franklin and Darrell Caudill of Knoxville, Tn.; 2 daughters, Darkmoon House of Woodbury and Janice Fields of Morningview, Ky.  She has 14 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Curtis and Odell Pendley; 3 sisters, Lucy Pendley, Minnie Johnson and Annie Willoughby.

 William "Bud" Phelps, 72 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 in Bowling Green, Ky. at the Greenview Regional Hospital.  He was born in Ohio Co., Ky. on May 5, 1943 to the late Gobel Phelps and Bulah Garner Phelps.   He was a member of Pleasant Rock Full Gospel Church. Bud volunteered at Head Start in Butler Co. and was voted "Volunteer of the Year".  He worked for over 30 years as a Sawyer and spent the remainder of his time loving his grandbabies and playing the Wii.   He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Janice Sue Blanchard Phelps, daughter-in-law; Shannon Phelps, Brothers James & Billy Phelps. 1 sister; Butress Embry.

Doyle Willis Proctor, 79, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Huntsville, Ky. on October 16, 1936 to the late Palastine and Doxie Abbott Proctor.   He was of the Pentecostal-Apostolic faith.  He enjoyed reading his Bible, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He loved gardening and being a devoted husband for 60 yrs.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.

Mr. Proctor is survived by his wife, Louise Drake Proctor of Morgantown; children, Karen McKinney and husband Bobby of Morgantown, Mike Proctor and wife Kelly of Pinckneyville, Il., Sheila Morgan and husband Mack of Salem, Ma., Lisa Wolfinbarger and husband Gary of Morgantown and Shannon Silverman and husband Daniel of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; five sisters, Hazel Stinson of Russellville, Ky., Margie Drake of Beechmont, Ky., Olene Abbott of Madisonville, Ky., Velma Drake of Morgantown and Lois Sumner of Russellville and several nieces and nephews.

DORIS FLYNN BROWN

 

 Doris Marie Flynn Brown, 47, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her residence.  She was born in Clarksville, In. on May 5, 1968 to the late Thomas Flynn Sr. and Patricia Spade Elmore who survives.  Doris was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed playing with her first grandchild and was an avid UK basketball fan.  She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Douglas Flynn.

 

She is survived by daughter, Sierra Brown and fiance Terrell Brown of Morgantown; son, Dakota Leffler of Morgantown; granddaughter, Exzariah Brown of Morgantown; fiance, Ricky Hunt of Morgantown; mother, Patricia Elmore of Morgantown; three brothers, Tommy Flynn and fiance Faith Fromme of Louisville, John Elmore and wife Carly and James Elmore and fiance Rachel Johnson both of Morgantown; two sisters, Cathy Ackerman and husband Ronnie of Louisville and Jayme Norris and husband Richard of Morgantown; step daughter, Amber Leffler of Louisville; the fathers of her children, James Brown of Sadieville, Ky. and Joey Leffler of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

Robbie Thomas Cox, 35 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 in Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on June 26, 1980 to Charles E. Jr. and Margie Ferguson Cox.   He was a member of Barnetts Lick Missionary Baptist Church, was a auto body mechanic and enjoyed working on anything with a motor. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles E. Cox, Sr. and Arthur and Mildred Ferguson.

Loretta Francis Huff  Embry, 57 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at her residence.  She was born in Brownsville, Ky. on October 26, 1958 to the late Roby Huff and Edna Lindsey.  Mrs. Embry was a homemaker, member of House of Prayer, an avid traffic watcher. She loved her grandchildren, fishing and her dog Sassy Louise. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren Skyler Shepherd and Jayden Hawkins, sisters Lynn Haynes, Vergie Sailing and niece Faye Haynes.

She  is survived by her husband Jim Embry of Morgantown; six children Tammy Deweese and husband Lee of Morgantown, James Shepherd and wife Carolyn of Jetson; Billy Embry and wife Robin, Brandy Neighbors and husband Chuck, Nathan Shepherd, and Sylvia Shepherd all of Morgantown; 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 6 brothers, 7 sisters and her dog "Sassy Louise"

Peggy Cardwell Sisk, 68 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Ky.  She was born in Butler Co., Ky. on September 28, 1947 to Eldon and Leodria Hoops Cardwell.  Peggy was a Kennel Tech at Heritage Animal Hospital and was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. She loved animals, crossword puzzles and enjoyed playing jeopardy.   She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Carol Spurlock and Kathy Cardwell; brothers Keith and Jimmy Cardwell.

She  is survived by her husband of 51 years Darrell Sisk of Morgantown; one son Dwayne Sisk of Conway Arkansas; one step-daughter Maurita Harris of Bowling Green; one step-grandson Logan Harris of Fordsville, Ky.; one brother Frank Cardwell and wife Janet of Franklin; several nieces, nephews and furry friends.

Ron Metheny officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hill Haven Memory Garden Cemetery. TYLER JORDAN BEACH


Tyler Jordan Beach, 23, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He was born in Indianapolis, In. on August18, 1992 to the late Jeffery Brian Beach and Rebecca Mae Phelps Beach who survives.  Tyler was a truck driver and was a member of Morgantown Community Church.  He loved to D.J., also enjoyed gaming, computers, cars and music.  He was preceded in death by his father Jeffery Beach.

He  is survived by his wife, Brittney Sullivan Beach of Bowling Green; one daughter, Serenity Jade Beach of Corbin, Ky.; mother, Rebecca Phelps Beach of Bowling Green; brother, Cameron Beach of Bowling Green; half brother, Brandon Beach of Oregon; grandparents, Sylvia Beach of Indianapolis, In.; Dan Ray of  Plainfield, In. and E.J. and Donna Phelps of Morgantown; father-in-law,  Harold Lancaster of Central Alabama; mother-in-law, Jessica Sullivan of Central Alabama; many aunts, uncles and cousins; special aunt Leeann Arnold of Morgantown, special cousins, Josh McLean of Morgantown and Josh and Vickie Beach of Indianapolis; and a host of friends.

TERRY LYNN JARED SR.

 

Terry Lynn Jared Sr., 62, of  Beaver Dam, Ky. passed away Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Ohio County Hospital.  He was born on July 12, 1953 in Beech Grove, IN. to the late William Jared and Wilma Ragland Jared who survives. Terry enjoyed woodworking, making canes, photography and was very artistic. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Spencer Jared. 

He is survived by his mother, Wilma Jared of Mooresville, IN; six children, Deana Howard of Indianapolis, IN, Terry Jared Jr. and wife Kathryn of Seymour, IN, Jennifer Jared of Greenfield, IN, Stephanie Jared, Nathan Jared and Jacob Jared all of Whiteland, IN; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Belinda Federspiel of Plainfield, IN and Patricia Singer and husband David of Indianapolis, IN; one brother, James Jared of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews.

RANDEL C. DOCKERY

 

Randel C. Dockery , 78, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Hopkins Nursing Center of Bowling Green.  He was born on May 19, 1937 in Butler County, Ky. to the late Esthy and Mamie Jones Dockery. Randel was a carpenter and enjoyed hunting, fishing and antiques. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Stella Mae Dockery, brother Otis Dockery, Sisters Dorothy Embry and Myerl Kessinger. 

He is survived by One Son Argin Dockery and wife Mary of Lewisburg, Ky.
Five Grandchildren Gabe Inglis and wife Stephanie of Lewisburg, Ky., Jonathan Inglis and wife Angie of Lewisburg, Ky., Jordan Inglis and wife Candice of Lewisburg, Ky., Cody Dockery and wife Katie of Auburn, Ky., Colton Dockery and wife Cortney of Lewisburg, Ky.; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 2 pm. with Bro. Jimmy McIntosh officiating .  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Ohio County. ANN CATHERINE "CATHY" COOK

 

Ann Catherine "Cathy"  Cook, 72 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, Bowling Green, Ky.  She was born in Louisville, Ky. on September 19, 1943 to Joseph Harold and Martha Louise Burch Kelley.  Ms. Cook  was a Secretary for Middle Kentucky Construction and attended Aberdeen Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Thomas Cook.

She  is survived by two daughters Jo Lynn Reed and husband Kenneth of Morgantown, Jana Rose and husband David of Morgantown; three grandchildren Tyler Reed and wife Megan of Lexington, Conner Reed of Morgantown and Beth Ann Rose of Morgantown; one sister Linda Jo Givens of Morgantown.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 4 pm with Bro. Roger Taylor and Bro. Charles Ed Flener officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hill Haven Memory Garden Cemetery. MARY LOUISE SWEATT EVANS

 

Mary Louise Sweatt Evans , 81, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Wednesday, November 4,  2015 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville.  She was born in Logan Co. on Feb. 16, 1934 to the late John and Vonia Cain Sweatt.   She was retired from the health care profession and was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Mt. Liberty Church and member of  Dexterville Homemakers.  She loved watching the Cincinnati Reds and the UK Wildcats basketball.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Lewis Evans, parents John and Vonia Sweatt,  one grandson Michael McCoy, one great grand daughter Sarah Elizabeth Jones, three brothers, five sisters and one son in law, Lonnie Proctor.

She is survived by two sons, David (Kathy) Evans of Bowling Green and Donnie (Linda) Evans of  Morgantown; three daughters, Virginia Evans of Bowling Green, Norma Proctor (William) of Morgantown and Lisa Evans of Lawrenceburg; one brother, Bill (Loretta) Sweatt of Morgantown and one sister, Juanita Vance (Steve) of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Scotty (Dana) Proctor, Tiffiani (Jason) Jones and Derek Proctor all of Morgantown; Traci (JR) Duff, Tori (Chris) Gerbig and Clint Evans (Merritt) all of Bowling Green, Tamara (Jacob) Davis of Louisville; great grandchildren, Brandon, Brady and Maddie Jones, Austin, Autumn, Kaleigh, Jake and Evan Lewis Proctor all of Morgantown, Charley Grace and Trey Duff and Jackson and Rylee Gerbig all of Bowling Green, Jagger McCoy of Auburn; step grandson, Steve Alford;  great step grandchildren, Kierra Neighbors, Journey Alford, Jacoty Hope, Landon Forbes, Katelynn Alford (Brandon) of Bowling Green, Whitney (Philip) Baldwin of Adairville, step great great grandchildren, Braydon Dalton of Bowling Green, Hadley Baldwin of Adairville, expecting Layton Baldwin in December and several special nieces, nephews and friends.

 JOSHUA ALLEN PHELPS 

 

Josh" Biggen" Phelps, 33 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on September 23, 1982 to James Dean and Karen Faye West Phelps who survive. Josh was a carpenter and attended Temple View General Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles and four wheelers.  He was preceded in death by his grandfather James West.

He  is survived by his wife Mandy Phelps of Morgantown; three children Breanna Reynolds, Autumn Phelps and Brody Phelps all of Morgantown; parents J.D. and Karen Phelps  of Jetson; grandparents Everett and Dimple Phelps of Morgantown, Lovenia West of Morgantown; two sisters Charity Cox and husband Kurt of Jetson, Susan Appling and husband Jason of Auburn, Ky.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

GLEN DALE PENDLEY

 

Glen Dale Pendley, 84, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on June 15, 1931. Glen enjoyed woodworking, talking on his CB radio and rabbit hunting.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clido and Eva Bingham Pendley, one daughter, Glenda Denise Pendley and one sister Omie Kimmel. 

Mr. Pendley is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy Pendley of Morgantown; one son, Jimmy Pendley of Ashland, Ky.; four daughters, Tennie Cook of Cromwell, Eva Pendley and Neva Evans both of Morgantown, and Laurie Ann Woods of Bowling Green; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one on the way; two brothers, Odell Pendley of Missouri and Curtis Pendley of Dunbar; four sisters, Dorothy Caudill of Bowling Green, Lucy Pendley of Huntsville, Annie Willoughby of Beaver Dam and Minnie Johnson of Russellville and several nieces and nephews.


Funeral Service will be held at Sandy Creek Baptist Church on Monday,  Nov. 2, 2015 at 1 pm with Bro. Derek Cain officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sandy Creek Cemetery.   Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 1 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at Smith Funeral Home and Monday from 10 am until time of service at Sandy Creek Baptist Church.

Lena Vivian Wencker, 89 of Imperial, MO., passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Scenic View in Herculaneum, MO. Vivian was born in Guston Ky. on September 23, 1926 to Thomas Granville Smith and Hettie Board Smith. Vivian was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She served at state level as a Worthy Matron and Grand Secretary. She was a member of the Arnold Baptist Church and loved to cook, play cards, bingo and enjoyed her grandchildren. Vivian was preceded in death by son Stephen Douglas Allen, great grandson, Christopher House , her parents and 10 siblings. She is survived by 1 Daughter Joyce Main and husband Larry of Imperial MO., 2 sons; Ron Allen & wife Barbara of Fenton MO. Dorothy Lorraine Coots Flener , 86, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.  Dorothy was born on Feb. 12, 1929  in Butler County, Ky.  to the late Oakley and Ruby Mae Flener Coots. She was a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church.  Dorothy retired from GE Motors after 35 years.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and son Eddie Royce Flener. She is survived by Husband of 69 years Earl Flener of Morgantown. 2 sons; Rickey Lee Flener and wife Glenda of Morgantown.  Timothy Earl Flener of Louisville.

 Edith Henderson Arnold , 88, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, October 1,  2015 at the Medical Center.  Edith was born on Aug. 12, 1927  in Butler County, Ky.  to the late Harvey and Annie Ruth Embry Henderson. She was a member of Barnett's Lick Missionary Baptist Church.  Edith was a homemaker and loved to read, garden and sew.  She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Leonard Mitchell Sr. and second husband Ward Arnold; one son, Leonard Mitchell Jr. and one daughter Norma Jean Rutledge; four brothers, Chester, Raymond, Leamon and Jessie Henderson.

She is survived by three grandchildren John Mitchell and wife Jody of  IL, Catherine Mitchell of IL and Jennifer Anne Rutledge of TX; four grandchildren, Cody and Jadyn Mitchell of IL and Ashley and Julie Branz of IL; several nieces and nephews.

Jessie Denton Hancock, 79 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab in Morgantown, Ky.   He was born in Monticello, Ky. on September 13, 1936  to William Leonard and Ruby Stinson Hancock.  Jessie was a Farm Mechanic for many years and attended Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church.  He  loved to fish and hunt.  He was preceded in death by 4 Brothers: William, Clyde, Paul and infant Bobby Hancock; 3 Sisters: Mary Cissell, Susie Quinn and infant Donna Hancock.

He  is survived by 1 Brother, Robert Hancock of Florida; 1 Sister, Judy Morris of Louisville, Ky. and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

James "Jim" Childress, 81 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Hospice House, Hospice of Southern Ky., Bowling Green, Ky.   He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on September 16, 1934  to William Muarry and Lydia Brown Childress. Jim was a Army Veteran  a  aviation mechanic and a decoder with the military. Mr. Childress  was a retired State worker, Coal miner and a member of the VFW Post5837.  He was preceded in death by 5 Sisters; Evelyn Wilson, Earlene Childress, Beulah Childress, Polly Nelms, Anna Lou Spangler. 3 Brothers; Garland, Weldon & Glendon Childress
He  is survived by 3 Sisters; Jolene Pike of Fort Myers, Fl., Olene Sweet of Lafayette, In,
Una Mae Trost of Lafayette, In.  Many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

JAYDEN HAWKINS

 

 Jayden Alexander Hawkins, 5, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, September 28, 2015 in Morgantown, Ky.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on August 19, 2010 to Aaron Hawkins and Sylvia Shepherd.  Jayden was in Ms. Otey's  Kindergarten class. He loved Spiderman, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Peppa Pig, kites, sandboxes and Hot Wheels. Jayden also loved going to McDonalds.  He was preceded in death by his two special uncles Willie and Carlos Webster.

 He is survived by his parents Aaron Hawkins of Morgantown, Sylvia Shepherd of Morgantown; three brothers Dominik Hawkins, Clayton Mersing, both of West VA., Zabien Morris of Morgantown; five sisters Maddyson Shepherd of Morgantown, Kirra Hawkins of West VA., Kelsie Howard  of Morgantown, Kahliean Bacon of Morgantown and Ava Coots of Morgantown; Grandparents Doretha Townsley and Todd Tines of Morgantown, John and Melody Shepherd of Morgantown and  Jim and Loretta Embry of Morgantown; Great-Grandmother Dorothy Embry of Morgantown; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

NORMAN DONALD TANNER 

 

Norman Donald Tanner, 77, of  Woodburn, Ky., passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on January 9, 1938.  He was preceded in death by his father,  James Bradley Tanner, his mom, Effie Laura Orange Tanner and one son, Mickey Robert Tanner.  Mr. Tanner was of the Protestant faith and was an Air Force Veteran.  He retired from Clarks Distributing and also worked at Warwick Electronics in Chicago and Howard W. Sams Publishing in Indianapolis.  He loved all ballgames and playing golf. 

He  is survived by his wife of 57 years, Juanita Romans Tanner of Woodburn; one daughter, Sheila Tanner of Woodburn; one grandson, Tyler Reeder of Louisville; one sister, Jeanette Graham of Whitehouse, TN and one brother, Roger Tanner of Morgantown.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Thursday Oct. 1, 2015 at 2 pm.  Burial will follow in the Caney Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 1 from 10 am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home.

DAVID GRIFFIN MILLER, III

 

David Griffin Miller, III, age 77 of Sowers Place, Lexington passed away Wednesday morning July 29, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday October 3, 2015 at Riverview Cemetery, Morgantown, Ky.  officiated by  Rev. Randy Nielson, under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

David was born in Butler County, KY October 3, 1937 to Dr. David Griffin Miller, Jr. and Ida Blanche Hudson Miller. David was a graduate of The University of Louisville where he received his Degree in Mechanical Engineering and his Masters while being a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He also attended Xavier University. He was a retired employee of PPG where he was Project Manager. He was a Veteran of the US Air Force serving as First Lieutenant. At First Methodist he was a Lay Leader, Member of the United Methodist Men and served many areas within the church. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Homeless Shelter and served many areas for the church and community. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, member of AOPA, private pilot and a craftsman of Violins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sarah Kathryn Miller.

David is survived by his wife Sarah Peden Miller; daughters, Stephanie Miller Berrier (Mark) of Lexington, Heather Lea Miller Koonts (Matt) of Climax; sons, Daniel George Miller (Linda) and Michael Gavin Miller (Robin) all of Lexington; grandchildren, Lauren Miller Dobbins (Tyler), Kathryn Laine Berrier, Dalton Gray Miller, Audrey Claire Berrier and Nathanael Weldon Koonts; great-grandchildren, Arabella Hayden Miller, Jonah Miller Dobbins and Spencer Colton Dobbins.

HELEN DEEL FISHBURN

 

 Helen Deel Fishburn, 82 of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday September 22, 2015 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown, Ky.  Helen was born in Warren Co., Ky. on May 1, 1933 to Alonzo and Eva Belcher Deel.  She worked  many years at  Kane's Manufacturing and at several Nursing Homes.  Helen loved sewing and gardening.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Samuel C. Fishburn;  brothers Lonnie Deel, Waymon Deel, Wade Deel, M.R. Deel, Clay Deel, J. Martin Deel, William Deel, and sister Lucile Martin.

Helen Deel Fishburn is survived by one sister Jean Dumond and husband Dick of Bowling Green, Ky.; nieces Sharon Still of Bowling Green, Ky., Shirley Durham of Franklin, Ky.; several nieces, nephews and cousins on the Deel and Fishburn sides.

MICHAEL "TONY" BELL 

 

Michael "Tony" Bell, 48, of  Bowling Green, Ky., passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He was born in Warren Co., Ky. on August  22, 1967  to Jim and the late Theresa Crabtree Bell.  Tony was a truck driver for several companies including Rone Trucking.   He was an avid UK basketball and NASCAR fan.  He was preceded in death by his mother,  wife Charlotte Bell, grandparents Fred and Virginia Crabtree, Ezekiel and Izella Bell and grandson Dominick Reynolds.

He  is survived by his daughter Ashley Lynn Bell of Morgantown, father  Jim Bell of  Detroit, MI., step-daughter Amanda Sexton (James) of  Bowling Green, step-son  Burt Russell Reynolds (Danelle) of  Cave City, Ky., grandchildren  Dakota Sexton, Lilyana Sexton, Brandon Reynolds, Timothy Reynolds, Mark Reynolds and Lyndsay Reynolds, sister Nikki Bell of Bowling Green, Ky., brother Andre Bell of California, niece  Devyn Bell of Bowling Green, Ky. 

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 1:00pm  with Bro. TJ Howard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bowling Green. Visitation will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 4:30- 8:00 pm and Friday 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky. 

 

 

 

 

LINDA FAYE WEST

 

Linda Faye West, 54, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Friday,  September 11, 2015 at Norton Hospital in Louisville. Linda was born on April 22, 1961  in Scottsburg, In. to the late Julian and Ella Schmidt West.  She was a homemaker, loved watching tv and couponing, she also loved to cook.   She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jimmy West.

She is survived by her two sons, Johnny West and William West both of Morgantown; three daughters, Kimberly Ryan -Thompson and husband Benjamin of  Russellville, Pamula Hicks and husband Michael of  Bowling Green, and  Amanda West of  Shelbyville, Tn.; grandchildren, Amber Ryan, Ryan West, Kesha West, Micheal West, Travis West, Sophia West, Lara Ryan, Michael Ryan,  Eric Hicks, Maya West, Jonathan Simmons Jr., Melinda Simmons, Jonathan Simmons II, and Haley Simmons; two sisters, Ella Schmidt of Russell Springs and Brenda Moody of Bardstown; one brother, Julian West of Jefferson, In.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

 

 

TROY LEE PENROD

 

 Troy Lee Penrod, 82 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on  May 6, 1933 to Jesse and Irene Smith Penrod.  Mr. Penrod was a Korean War Veteran. Had a long career as Aviation Hydraulics Specialist. He was a member of USTA, United States Trotting Association. Troy was an avid coon hunter, he enjoyed fishing, hunting ,dog trading and flea markets.   He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Gerald Penrod.

He  is survived by his sister: Gwendolyn Penrod, Morgantown,  Longtime Companion: Nancy Keown of  Morgantown.  Many nieces, nephews and a host of cousins.

 Funeral Service will be held Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 2 pm with Bro. Paul Parks officiating.  Burial will be held in the Oak Grove Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Saturday, September 12, 2015  from 3:30 pm-8pm and Sunday 8am until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky. 

 

 

BRENDA CARROLL WHITE

 

 

Brenda Carroll White , 67 of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Tuesday September 8, 2015 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab.  Brenda was born on June 29, 1948  in Butler County Kentucky  to the late Leo and Ruby Gidcumb Carroll. She was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and the Friendly Four Gospel Group.  Brenda was a full time homemaker and had worked at  Kane's and Kellwood thru out the years She was preceded in death by her parents,  infant sister Norma Lynn Carroll.
 
She  is survived by her Husband Damon White of Morgantown; Daughter Kristie Austin of Bowling Green; Son Clinton White and wife Tonya of Morgantown; Grandchildren Logan Martin and wife Mercedes of California; Charlee Austin of Bowling Green, Kaden White of Morgantown, Jamie Austin of Bowling Green; Sisters Wilma Lee and husband Bob of Morgantown, Elizabeth Ann Mosley and husband Charlie of Hadley, Ky.; Brother David Carroll wife Linda of Morgantown and Several Nieces and Nephews.

 ELZIE R. HOOPS

 

Elzie R. Hoops, 87, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his residence.  Elzie was born on January 3, 1928  in Butler Co., Ky. to the late Elzie and Dicie Smith Hoops.  He was retired from B & R Lumber and enjoyed singing.  He was preceded  in death by his parents, grandson James Hayes, sister Bertha Ann Hayes & Nettie Basham, brother William "Wiggie" Smith.

 

Mr. Hoops  is survived by his two children Roger Dale Hoops of Evansville, In., Ricky Lynn Hoops of Hopkinsville, Ky.; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; one brother Jimmy Smith of Morgantown; one sister Hettie Williams of Morgantown.

Carlos Webster

                                               

 Carlos Leon Webster, 61 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on January 14, 1954 to Azro and Thelma Phelps Webster.  Mr. Webster  was a security guard and a member of the Trinity Full Gospel Tabernacle Church.  He enjoyed tractors, guns and rebuilding high performance engines. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lizzie Moran; brother, Willie Webster and two infant brothers.

 

He  is survived by his wife of 37 years Teresa Webster of Morgantown, Ky., two sons, Carlos Mont Webster and  Rebecca Belcher of Morgantown, Daniel Glenn Webster and wife Jennifer of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Silas Webster, Afton, Reagan, Kimber Webster; one brother Floyd Webster of Morgantown, two sisters, Clara Biddle and husband Larry of Greentown, In., Doretha Townsley of Morgantown, Ky., several nieces and nephews.

James Armes Sullivan

 

                                               

James Armes Sullivan, 67 of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Medical Center Hospital in Bowling Green, Ky. He was born in Detroit, MI. on February 27, 1948  to Carl Sullivan and Bonnie Luttrel Cummings.  Mr. Sullivan was a Carpenter. He was of the Pentecostal faith and enjoyed studying his bible. He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren Aryana Clayton and Nevah Clayton, one brother Joe Hayse.   

 

He  is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Sullivan of  Morgantown; Six sons, Shannon Clayton and wife Lisa of Evansville, William Clayton and wife Marie of Leitchfield, James Sullivan Jr. and wife  Faith of  Cincinnati, Oh., Carl Sullivan & James Sullivan both of Louisville, Ky., Chris Neighbors and wife Angie of Bowling Green; Three daughters, Doreen Sullivan of Louisville, Tammy Early husband Eugene Jr. of Morgantown and Carla Sullivan of Cincinnati, Oh., 22 Grandchildren and 14 Great-Grandchildren.

Katie Sue Dotson

                                               

Katie Sue Dotson, 72, of  La Grange, Illinois, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at her residence.  She was born in Michigan on May 13, 1943 to William O. and Charlene Moore Dotson. Ms. Dotson  retired from the  Juvenile Justice Court System.  She was a member of the Morgantown Methodist Church and Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother David Dotson and  sister Carmen Dotson Geid.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Katrina Cole Maniscalco and husband Sebastian I,

Kelly Cole Stanisch and  husband Todd;  one son Robert A. Cole and wife Olga;

five grandsons,  Sabastion Maniscalco II, Austin Cole, Taylor Cole, Montana Cole and Maverick Cole; Three grand-daughters, Francesca Isabella Maniscalco, Bianca Maniscalco & Stacy Wallensack; one brother, Johnny Dotson.

WILLIAM BLANCETT

William Wilbert Blancett, 90, of Louisville, joined his heavenly father on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.

He was born on September 17, 1924 in Morgantown, Kentucky, the son of Hobert
Garrett and Mae (Bratcher) Blancett of Morgantown, KY and is preceded in death by his wife Geneva (Whittinghill) Blancett; son, Timothy Blancett and grand-son, Timothy J. Bucalo; two sisters, Beulah Minton and Carrie Middleton.

He is survived by four daughters: Barbara Bradley of Louisville, Linda (Terry) Northcutt of Shepherdsville, Trecia (Ronald) Olson of Fairdale and Vernee’ Blancett of Shepherdsville, one son: David (Tammi) Blancett of Bartow, FL and one brother, James Blancett of Bowling Green, KY., five grandchildren: Tony (Lisa) Bucalo, Tasha Bucalo, of Louisville, KY, Joshua Blancett of St. Petersburg, FL, Justin (Katie) Blancett of Nashville, TN, Aaron Maupin of Louisville, KY, seven great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Bucalo, Brenna Bucalo, Timothy K. Bucalo, Erin Maupin, William Maupin, Logan Maupin, Preston Blancett and John Blancett and many nephews and nieces.

William was a residential home builder and trenching contractor until his retirement. He was a man of many talents and inventions, with the ability to make anything work…you could say he was a self taught mechanical engineer. He loved God and was very active in attending church, southern gospel music gatherings, playing the harmonica and spending time with his family.
He lived his life with this motto from Luke 6:31 ~ “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 beginning at 1:00 P.M. and a celebration of his life will be at 7:00 P.M. at the Evangel Christian Life Center, 5400 Minors Lane, Louisville, KY 40219.  HARDING C. MOORE, 94, passed away on August 14, 2015.
 He was a retired employee of Celenese Corp., a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and DAV, and an Army veteran of WWII.
 Preceding him in death was his beloved wife, Verda Moore and his daughter, Patricia Watkins.
 Survivors include his grandchildren, David Watkins (Kelli) and Kimberly Jayne Jobe (Larry); great grandchildren, Zachary Jayne, Nicole Watkins, Ethan Jayne, and Brandon Watkins; his son-in-law, John Watkins; and niece, Betty Timmons.

JERALD "Jerry" FORD

Jerald “Jerry” Wayne Ford age 67 of Louisville was born August 14, 1947 to the late William J. and Mary C. Hutchinson Ford and returned to his Heavenly Father July 30,2015 while surrounded by his family. Mr. Ford was a retired forklift operator with Graphic Packaging and Local 89. Jerry loved hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 51 years, Darlene Threlkel Ford; daughters, Robin Ford-Hyche of Bardstown, KY and Rhonda Housmann (Dug) of Louisville, KY; son at heart, Kevin Parrott; sister, Sherry Ford of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Sheena Ford, Desiree Hyche, Duglas Housmann, Hunter Ford and Kandyce Housmann; great grandchild, Ra’Lynn Pierce; a host of other family and friends.

Nancy Cornett, 62, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at her residence.  She was born in Louisville, Ky. on Jan. 5, 1953 to the late Harvey and Billie June Douglas Hardegree.  Nancy was a former Medical Assistant and loved animals.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Billie June Hardegree. 

She  is survived by one daughter, Carly Elmore and husband John of Morgantown; two brothers, Bruce Hardegree and wife Lida of California and Mark Hardegree and wife Mary of Louisville; one sister Van Casey of Bloomfield, Ky.; two grandchildren, Cheyanne Elmore and Easton Elmore both of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews.

CECIL RAY MCKINNEY

Cecil Ray McKinney, 77, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Morgantown Care and Rehab Center, Morgantown, Ky.  He was born in Butler Co, Ky. on June 17, 1938 to  Claude and Ollive Johnson McKinney.  Mr. McKinney was a retired machinist with Sexton Foods in Indianapolis, Indiana and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He is preceded in death by one brother Howard Cardwell and one sister Myrl Hoover.

He  is survived by  his wife Floalma McKinney of Morgantown ; one son William Ray McKinney and wife Linda of Indianapolis; one daughter Lisa Marie Rancourt and husband Eric of Southbend, In.  two brothers Jerry McKinney and wife Lorrene of Cromwell, Ky., Faron McKinney of Morgantown; one sister Edna Morris and husband James of Morgantown;
 six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

DENVER E. BELILES                                               
 
Denver E. Beliles, 92, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at his  residence.  He was born in Butler Co., Ky. on March 19, 1923 to the late Lloyd and Hallie McCoy Beliles. He was retired from Chrysler Automotive where he worked as a welder and was also a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.  He was a US Army Veteran, having served in WWII, where he was a recipient of Four Bronze Stars, a Victory Medal and a Purple Heart.   He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Hallie Beliles; wife, Ruby Beliles; two brothers, Wayne and Denzil Beliles and one sister, Lorell Mayhew.

He is survived by one brother, Thel Beliles and wife Ovie of Smiths Grove; two sisters, Evanell McCoy of Louisville and Marcell Reynolds of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

SHELIA WILLIS


Shelia Rose Willis, 63, of  Calvert City, Ky., passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her residence.  She was born in Ohio Co., Ky. on March 20, 1952 to the late Troy and Shirley Mae Morris Willis.  Shelia was a member of Holly Hills Missionary Baptist Church and worked at Calvert City Metal and Alloy.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Anita Gayle Willis. 

She  is survived by her 3 children, Angelia Raley, Kevin Raley and Jeremy Blair all of Calvert City; 3 brothers, Stephen Willis of Centertown, Terry Willis of Smithland and James Willis of Gilbertsville; 2 sisters, Debra Jones of Fredonia, and Sherry Halcomb of Grand Rivers; 8 grandchildren, Jessica Hall, Dillion Blair, Haley Burden, Andrew Raley, Kelsey Raley, Andrea Duncan, Robert Duncan and Chris Duncan.

BRYAN "BOO" EMBRY

Bryan "Boo" Embry, 25, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Medical Center Hospital, Bowling Green, Ky.  He was born in Warren Co. Ky., on January 27, 1990  to Roy and Regina Blunk Embry.  Bryan liked working on cars, listening to music and watching UK football & basketball. He was preceded in death by his father Roy Embry and grandfather Latney Blunk.
He  is survived by his mother Gina Embry of Morgantown; one brother Ryan Embry of  Morgantown; grandmother Jerlene Wilkerson of Roundhill, Ky; eight uncles Roger Embry and wife Pat of Rochester, Rickie Blunk and wife Barbara of Paducah, Ky.  RICHARD "PA" FLENER

Richard "Pa" Flener, 61, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015 at his loving sisters in law residence, Betty Wilson in Morgantown.  He was born in Louisville, Ky. on February 3, 1954 to the late Gavin and Estell Haven Flener. He was a retired Timber Cutter and loved fishing, hunting and most of all being with his grandchildren. He preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia Adkins, stepmother Anna Mae Deweese Flener.
He  is survived by his wife Vonnie Flener of Morgantown; two sons Troy Flener of Saltlick, Ky., Marcus Flener of Morgantown; step-son John Howard and wife Francene of Morgantown; step-daughter Connie Howard of Morgantown; one grandson Braden Flener of Saltlick, Ky.; one grandchild on the way; eight step-grandchildren Allison Howard, Kelsie Howard, Alisha Howard, Joslyn Howard, Alissa Embry, Destiny Shepherd, Jericho West and Contessa Howard; one brother Larry D. Flener, Morgantown; one sister Patty Phelps and husband Roger of Morgantown; several nieces and nephews he called his children.

ANNA BASHAM

Anna Basham, 58, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Saturday, June 27, 2015 at her residence.  She was born in Owensboro, Ky. on November 12, 1956 to Clarence and Margaret Hatfield Reneer.  Ms. Basham had many jobs in her life, she was a beautician, factory worker and up until her illness she drove a truck.  She  loved horseback riding with her daughter, sewing and doing arts and crafts. 

She  is survived by her daughter, Sierra Basham; her parents, Clarence and Margaret Reneer; one brother Curtis Peak; one nephew, Kurtis Peak; two nieces, Amber Dickenson and Amanda Hester and five great nieces and one great nephew.

FAYE PENDLEY

Faye Pendley, 80, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Medical Center  in Bowling Green.  She was born in Morgantown, Ky. on December  19, 1934  to the late Herbert and Sal Givens Engler.  Mrs. Pendley was a retired Certified Medical Assistant and Nursing Assistant at Morgantown Care and Rehab.  She  loved quilting, reading her bible and watching TV.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband William Pendley, infant son William Glane Pendley, three sisters Lucy Berg, Erline Pendley and Ruby Givens, one brother Bub Engler.

She  is survived by one daughter  Joan Phelps of Morgantown; one son Kevin Pendley and wife Gina of Morgantown; seven grandchildren Jerry Phelps, Briannah Pendley, Christian Pendley, Piper Pendley, Amber Pendley, Avery Pendley, America Pendley; one sister Joyce Hudnall; sister-in-law Ruby Pendley; and many nieces and nephews.

JoAnn Jennings Samuels, 72, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at her residence.  JoAnn was born July 26, 1942  in Louisville, Ky. to the late Richard Avon Owen and Ruby Clark Jennings.  She had a passion for flowers, sewing and enjoyed swimming. She was  preceded  in death by her parents, grandson Samuel Graves, brother Richard Owen Jennings and her children's father Lonnard (LD) Hardin Sr.

She  is survived three daughters: Anna Hardin and husband Ray, Tina Flener and husband Allen, Kim Bartley and husband Chris Sr. all of Morgantown; three sons Lonnard (Lonnie) Hardin Jr. and wife Toni of Leitchfield, John Hardin and wife Dorothy, Patrick Hardin and wife Stacy both of Morgantown; 15 grandchildren T.J. Flener and wife Jennifer, Kevin Flener wife Jennifer, Angela Graves, Natausha Flener, Chris Bartley, Daniel Bartley, Bobbi Sue LeGawiec, Nicole Graves, Tamra Flener, Daniel Hardin, James Prewitt, Katie Hardin, Krysten Hardin, Coty Hardin, Owen Hardin; 25 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; two sisters Lana Steimetz of  Louisville, Ky., Linda Keller of Indiana; one brother Jeffery Jennings of Tell City, In.; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, June 20th  at 4 pm with Bro. Raleigh Blancett officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 10:30am  until time of service at Smith Funeral Home, Morgantown, Ky.

 RACHEL BOWERS                                               
 
Rachel Louise Hardison Bowers, 98, of  Owensboro, Ky., formerly of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Signature Health Care and Rehab in Owensboro, Ky.  She was born in Beechmont, Ky. on July 19, 1916  to the late William Robert and Mary Baggett Hardison.  Mrs. Bowers was a Homemaker and a member of Union Baptist Church.  She loved sewing and embroidering but most of all her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents;  husband William Emerson (Jake) Bowers; two sons and their spouses, Harold Ray and Linda Bowers and James William and Glenda Bowers; one granddaughter, Terri and her husband Keith Ford; one great grandson, Jarrod Bowers.

She is survived by granddaughters Melissa Stringer and husband Robert of Owensboro, Michele Brown and husband Tony of Clifty, Melanie Spidle and husband Steve of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kelli Richter and husband Edward and Mandy Elpers and husband Brian all of Evansville, IN; one sister, Faye Doris of Owensboro and one brother, Thomas Hardison of San Diego, CA; sister in law, Billie Jean West of Owensboro; 12 great grandchildren and 15 great great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 1:00 pm

BETTY MOORE

Betty Moore, 62, of  Russellville, Ky., formerly of Woodbury, Ky.  passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at Creekwood  Nursing & Rehab Center in Russellville, Ky.  She was born in Louisville, Ky. on December 13, 1952  to the late William Fletcher and Eunice Elizabeth Lykins Moore.  Ms. Moore worked as a Legal Secretary for Judge Sue Carol Browning in Russellville, Ky., and had a love for her cats. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Frances Martin.

Betty Moore  is survived by one sister Karen Allgood and husband Michael of Burns, Tn.; two nephews  Joseph Martin of Louisville, Ky., William Martin and wife Theresa of Nashville, Tn.; one niece Dana McNeeley and husband Trent of Georgetown, In.

PARKER WAYNE BOYD

Parker Wayne Boyd, 2 1/2 months old, of  Morgantown, Ky. passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at his residence.  Parker was born February 28, 2015  in Warren Co., Ky. to Roger Boyd and Morgan Brinkley.
 
Parker Wayne Boyd  is survived by his Parents Roger Boyd and Morgan Brinkley both of Morgantown;  Brothers Jordin and Bryson Boyd both of  Morgantown; Grandparents Ricky and Arttie  Cook of Auburn, Ky.; Crystal and James Rigsby of Franklin, Ky.; Great- grandparents Debbie Deweese and David Henderson of Franklin, Ky.; Godmother Ashley Wickware of Franklin, Ky.

 Effie Sorrels Christie, 86, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Mogantown Care and Rehab Center in Morgantown, Ky. She was born in Christian County on July 17, 1928  to the late Ora and Sadie Latham.  Mrs. Christie was a homemaker, loved flowers
and was of the Baptist faith.  She was preceded in death by her parents, 1st husband Willie Sorrels, 2nd husband Jack Christie, seven brothers and sisters.

She  is survived by Three children Bonnie Watson of Bowling Green, Brenda Johnson and husband Kenny of Rochester, Dennis Sorrels and wife Caron of Murray, Ky; 4 grandchildren Ricky Watson of Bowling Green, Steven Johnson of Rochester, Cristi Gills of Mayfield, Ky., Jeremy Sorrels of Murray, Ky.; 2 Great Grandchildren Ricky Watson Jr. of Bowling Green and Samantha Watson of Murray, Ky., Several nieces and nephews.

JERRY L. EMBRY

Jerry L. Embry, 68, of  Morgantown, Ky., passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at his residence.  He was born in Tanyard, Ky. on January 15, 1947 to the late John William and Essie Coats Embry.  Mr. Embry was retired from Life Skills.  He was a baptized member of the Worldwide Church of God and attended Hope in Messiah Congregation for the last several years.  Mr. Embry served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, he was  an avid reader, writer and loved his cats.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Laymon D. Embry and Leon Embry and one sister, Ada Embry.

He  is survived by his wife of 45 1/2 years Connie Embry; one brother, Damon Embry and wife Barbara of Louisville; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

TILMAN R. CARDWELL 

Tilman R. Cardwell, 64, of  Leitchfield, Ky., passed away Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.  He was born in Morgantown, Ky. on January 24, 1951  to the late Chester and Fanny Brooks Cardwell.  Mr. Cardwell worked in construction as a drywall contractor.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Leitchfield.  He loved fishing, gardening, building birdhouses and being outdoors.  He enjoyed playing with his dog and his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Gregory Dewayne Cardwell.

He  is survived by his companion Teresa Hack Newton;  three children, Tammy Lowe and husband Eddie of Morgantown, Fannie Drake  and husband Bruce of Bowling Green, Tilman Cardwell Jr. and wife Angel of Alvaton; three step children, Christy Michelle Croghan  and husband Pat of Leitchfield, Jennifer Lynn Saltz  and husband Kenny of Bowling Green and Derrik Cannon of Morgantown; eight grandchildren, Bobbi Joe Embry  and Anthony Lee Embry both of Bowling Green, Christy Michelle Embry of Scottsville, Bethan Owen and husband Jimmie of Bowling Green, Kristan Drake of Bowling Green, Jessica Lee Cooper, Brent Cooper Jr. and Haley Victoria Cooper all of Bowling Green; step grandchildren, Zachary Arlen Croghan, Brayden Thomas Croghan and Sawyer Reese Croghan, Lance Montgomery Cole, Matthew Kaden Saltz, Emma Cheyanne Saltz and Travis Cannon; great grandchildren, Michael Lee Embry, Jasmine Nicole Embry, Vivian Leigh Owen and Kylea Shea Alvey; three brothers, Danny Field Cardwell, Sam Cardwell and wife Rita, Gary "Porky" Cardwell and wife Kay,  two sisters, Nora May Raymer and husband Bobby and Helen Cardwell and husband Van, all of Morgantown.
